Curriculum reform is central to the aspirations of many developing countries as

they strive to deliver a quality education to their citizens. In the Philippines, with its

remarkable achievement of a high literacy rate in a few decades, the next step is bringing

its resources to bear on providing a quality education so that Filipinos may take their

places in the global labor force.

This study’s purpose is to investigate and assess the pedagogical readiness of

minority school learnerd in Mamburao Occidental Mindoro in the integration of

Information and Communication Technology in the curriculum; includes ICT

development programs for minority school teachers in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro.

A quantitative data analysis using questionnaire and unstructured interview was

employed from a questionnaire for which 75 (seventy-five) minority school learners in

Mamburao Occidental Mindoro served as respondents.

From the data yielded from the instruments, the findings confirmed out that

learners are satisfactory in using ICT to support learning needs.

v
Data reveals that the learners are satisfactory in explaining basic concepts related

to use of information communication technologies (ICTs), moreover, the learners are

satisfactory in applying technology standards to everyday practice. Findings also reveals

that learners are highly motivated with the use of ICT to enhance their knowledge. The

following are the barriers in Information and Communication Technology among

minority learners: cost, weak infrastructure, lack of skills, lack of relevant software, and

limited access to the internet.

Based from the findings and conclusions of the study, the following

recommendations are forwarded:

1. Identify areas where the minority learners have low motivation with the use of

ICT as basis for development of measures.

2. Enhance the use of ICT for the minority learners as it improves the students’

learning motivation.

3. Develop strategies to address the barriers encountered by the minority learners

in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

4. Consider the action plan designed to enhance the use of ICT for minority

learners.
