1.5T SCANNER SOFTWARE V3.X REINSTALLATION GUIDERendered PDF File Page 6 of 27 DOC0933241, Rev:1
1 Overview
This document is written for Service reinstallation of scanner software by trained Service representatives. Persons performing the
procedure should have a basic understanding of personal computers and familiarity with the installation of Windows software.
The guide describes the procedure for reinstalling the host computer operating system software and the EXTREME® Scanner V3.5x
software on the scanning system’s host computer. The procedures requires that peripheral devices such as the DVD- RAM drive,
the CD-RW drive, and the 3.5” floppy drive are already properly installed in the host computer, and that all of the software
installation disks are available.
Contents
The Reinstallation Guide contains the following chapters:
• Chapter 1, Overview, is this chapter. It lists the major sections of the Reinstallation Guide, and explains the text conventions
used.
• Chapter 2, Installing the Software, explains how to install the system software.
Related Materials
Information related to installing the 1.5T system is in the following documents:
• Scanner SW Release Notes, 5009-4300TPH
• Vendor-supplied manual, CEDARA Silhouette Service Manual, DOC0798902
• 1.5T Extremity Scanner Operator Manual, 5000-4700-001
Required Materials
Software Disks
To perform this reinstallation procedure, you must have the software disks listed below.
• INSTALLATION TOOL FOR ORTHONE Software CD, part no. 2009-4409-001
• Cedara Silhouette license file floppy disk (site’s license disk)
• 1.5T Software Installation disk, part no. 5009-4400-001

Navigation
Links
Blue text, as in the chapter references in the Contents section above, indicates a link to another section or document. Clicking the
blue text displays the linked section or document.
Though not displayed in blue, all page listings in the Table of Contents and in the Index are links. Clicking a listing in the Table of
Contents or the Index displays the listed page.
Bookmarks
The Bookmarks tab at the top left corner of the Acrobat screen provides a hierarchy of document headings that works like
Windows Explorer. Clicking a heading in the Bookmarks list opens the page that contains the heading. To open or close the
bookmarks display, click the Bookmarks tab. Closing the Bookmarks display provides a larger display area for the document.
After following a link to another PDF document or to a location within the Software
Reinstallation Guide, use the back (left arrow) button at the bottom of the Adobe Reader
window to return to the original location.
After following a link to a non-PDF document, press Alt-Tab to return to this document.
Conventions
The conventions described below are used throughout the ORTHONE service documents.
Text Conventions
The following text conventions indicate on-screen features and controls, and emphasize important operations:
• References to on-screen text and controls are in a special font, to distinguish them from the normal flow of text.
Example: When Clone completed Successfully appears, remove the floppy and CD-ROM disks.
In the example, “Clone completed Successfully” is text in the computer display.
• When a reference to on-screen text includes an undefined variable, the variable is in italics, between brackets.
Example: No connection to Server <Orthone:[database number]>
In the example, “[database number]” refers to a value that is not specified. The rest of the example is the same as the display
text.
• In some procedures, the most significant words in a step are in bold type. If the words refer to an on-screen feature, they are in
the special font in bold.
Example: On the Start Copying Files window, click Next>.
In the example, the N in “Next” is underlined because it is underlined in the display.

Terminology
The following terms have the meanings listed here:
• “Press” means to press a key or switch on a keyboard or other input device. (It does not refer to operating on-screen controls.),
The name of the control is in the regular font.
Example: Press Enter.
• “Click” means to place the mouse cursor on an item on the screen, and press the left mouse button.
Example: Click Finish.
Clicking causes the computer to perform an operation, such as opening or closing a window, saving data, or executing a task.
• “Double-click” means to place the mouse cursor on an item on the screen, and press the left mouse button twice.
Example: Double-click the Network icon.
• “Right-click” means to place the mouse cursor on an item on the screen, and press the right mouse button.
Example: Right-click the file name and select Properties from the drop-down menu.
• “Select” means to pick an option or file name from a list, by clicking it or rolling the mouse cursor over it.
Example: From the Edit menu, select Copy.
Selecting usually has no immediate result, and requires a subsequent click operation to implement the selection.

Except as noted, perform all the steps in each procedure in the order shown. Deviating from the
prescribed order or omitting a step can cause the installation to fail. Installation failure may not be
evident until long after a mistake is made, so read and perform each step carefully.

• The Windows® XP operating system and all required third-party driver software
• Silhouette® imaging software from the Cedara Software Corporation

Watch carefully for this prompt. If you do not press Enter in the few seconds provided, the system will boot
without installing the OrthOne Install Script menu. If this occurs, you will need to start again from Step 3.
When the system finishes booting up (two-three minutes), the OrthOne Install Script window opens. Use the buttons on the left
side of this menu to perform most of the procedures described in this chapter.

Do not use
All the buttons shown in the menu are referred to in this chapter except the Get Disk Info button. The Get Disk
Info button displays detailed information about the status of the hard disk, including partition, drive letter, and
format information and can be useful for expert use during troubleshooting.
Do NOT partition the hard disk unless this is a fresh installation of the software on a new hard disk.
Partitioning the disk erases ALL data on all partitions on the disk. This procedure is NOT required for
software upgrades or reinstallation of the SW on a functional disk. If you are performing a software
upgrade or a reinstallation on a previously used disk, skip this section, and go to the next section,
Installing the Software.
1. Prior to installation, backup the configuration files to a floppy disk as described above, or use an alternative backup method and
restore the files manually after the software is installed.
2. On the OrthOne Install Script window (Figure 2-4), click Prepare Disk.

Testing
After the software installation and configuration restoration are complete, test the archiving, DICOM transfer, and printing
functions of the system.
Consult the Operator’s Guide for detailed information on performing the functions described in this section.
Printing is discussed in Chapter 9; archiving, retrieving, and transferring studies are covered in Chapter 10.
1. Collect a series of images and use the archive function to archive them to a disk in the DVD-RAM drive.
2. If applicable, restore the default printer recorded earlier.
3. Restore the DICOM transfer destinations recorded earlier.
4. Verify that images can be transferred successfully to a remote site, using DICOM transfer.
5. Send an image to the designated printer to verify proper printer communication, if applicable.
6. Perform a DQA scan to insure proper system operation.
7. Test Webex operation.
8. After confirming that all functions are operational, perform a ghost image. Rename any previously saved ghost images.
