Reinstallation Guide, use the back (left arrow) button at the bottom of the Adobe Reader
window to return to the original location.
After following a link to a non-PDF document, press Alt-Tab to return to this document.

Conventions
The conventions described below are used throughout the ORTHONE service documents.

Text Conventions
The following text conventions indicate on-screen features and controls, and emphasize important operations:
• References to on-screen text and controls are in a special font, to distinguish them from the normal flow of text.
Example: When Clone completed Successfully appears, remove the floppy and CD-ROM disks.
In the example, “Clone completed Successfully” is text in the computer display.
• When a reference to on-screen text includes an undefined variable, the variable is in italics, between brackets.
Example: No connection to Server <Orthone:[database number]>
In the example, “[database number]” refers to a value that is not specified. The rest of the example is the same as the display
text.
• In some procedures, the most significant words in a step are in bold type. If the words refer to an on-screen feature, they are in
the special font in bold.
Example: On the Start Copying Files window, click Next>.
In the example, the N in “Next” is underlined because it is underlined in the display.

Terminology
The following terms have the meanings listed here:
• “Press” means to press a key or switch on a keyboard or other input device. (It does not refer to operating on-screen controls.),
The name of the control is in the regular font.
Example: Press Enter.
• “Click” means to place the mouse cursor on an item on the screen, and press the left mouse button.
Example: Click Finish.
Clicking causes the computer to perform an operation, such as opening or closing a window, saving data, or executing a task.
• “Double-click” means to place the mouse cursor on an item on the screen, and press the left mouse button twice.
Example: Double-click the Network icon.
• “Right-click” means to place the mouse cursor on an item on the screen, and press the right mouse button.
Example: Right-click the file name and select Properties from the drop-down menu.
• “Select” means to pick an option or file name from a list, by clicking it or rolling the mouse cursor over it.
Example: From the Edit menu, select Copy.
Selecting usually has no immediate result, and requires a subsequent click operation to implement the selection.

Safety Hazard Alerts

There are three hazard classifications used in this document:
Alert Circumstance for Use
Danger indicates an imminently hazardous situation, that, if
not avoided, will result in death or serious injury. Danger is
limited to extreme situations.

Warning indicates a potentially hazardous situation, that, if not

avoided, could result in death or serious injury.

Caution indicates a potentially hazardous situation, that, if not

avoided, may result in moderate to minor injury.

Electrical Safety Symbols

The MR system is a Class 1, type B applied part, rated for continuous operation. This device classification refers to the
level of protection provided against electrical shock to the parts are in contact with the patient.

The symbol shown to the left, where displayed, indicates that there are dangerous voltages accessible beyond that point.
Access may pose a safety risk and should only be done by qualified service personnel.

2 Installing the Software

Chapter Contents
This section includes the following topics:
• Backing Up the System Configuration Files on page 10
• Starting Windows PE on page 12
• Preparing the Hard Disk: Partitioning on page 13
• Installing the Software on page 14
• Installing Silhouette Licenses on page 15
• Initializing Windows and the Database on page 15
• Exiting the Software Install Application on page 15
• Restoring the Configurations on page 16
• Configuring the Computer and Network Settings on page 16
• Testing on page 25.

The Procedure: Overview

In this procedure, a preinstallation boot CD containing Microsoft® Windows® Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE) is used
to boot the system and display a menu, which is then used to perform the software installation. The installer selects functions from
the menu to:
• Prepare the hard disk by partitioning and formatting (used only if the installation requires a new hard disk).
• Install the Microsoft Windows XP Embedded Operating system, and the 1.5T scanner software.
• Install the site license.
• Display information about the current status of the hard disk, if desired.
• Open a command window, which allows you to input typed commands if desired.
As you perform the installation, you may notice slight discrepancies from the information in these procedures, depending on the
exact configuration of the system on which you are installing the software. As a general rule, do not deviate from on-screen
instructions during the setup and installation procedures.

Except as noted, perform all the steps in each procedure in the order shown. Deviating from the
prescribed order or omitting a step can cause the installation to fail. Installation failure may not be
evident until long after a mistake is made, so read and perform each step carefully.

At the end of the installation, the following software is installed on the host computer:
• The Windows® XP operating system and all required third-party driver software
• Silhouette® imaging software from the Cedara Software Corporation
• EXTREME 3.5x Scanner software
• Backed-up configuration files and protocols from the customer’s previous system
• The site license

Before Beginning
Before you begin the reinstallation:
• Check with the customer to make sure that the facility has archived all desired studies (See Operator’s Guide, Chapter 10).
• Review the software Release Notes (5009-4300TPH) for updates and the latest information on software installation.

• Locate the Silhouette license floppy or, when reloading to the same disk, copy the license folder to the D: drive

Create Ghost Image of the System Software

Create a backup copy of the entire contents of the C: drive (all the system software, configuration information and the image
database). This copy can be used to restore the system software to a known good state. A clinical user should be able to perform
this recovery process with telephone support from a service engineer.
1. Before starting, make sure the system is configured correctly and the database is empty. Remember that the customer will
restore exactly what you are saving away, and any problems may render them unable to scan.
2. Insert the System Recovery AB2000 CD, part number 2000-9315-001, in the CD drive.
3. Reboot the computer.
4. When you see a message asking you to type Ctrl-C to exit or any other key to continue, type Ctrl-C. Answer Y to the question
if you want to terminate the batch job.
5. At the A: prompt, type backupc and press Enter.
6. Wait for the backup to finish and the A: prompt to reappear.
7. Remove the CD from the CD drive and type Ctrl-Alt-Del or press the Reset switch on the computer.
The ghost image is stored on the D: drive.

Install Webex Remote Access

WebEx Remote Access allows for broadband access to the scanner from a remote location. This can be used for service and
applications support. WebEx access to the scanner is not available for international service organizations, but distributors are
encouraged to install the software, when possible, in order to enable the best possible support from GE Medical Systems, should
that be called for.
To install and enable the WebEx Remote Access agent included with the system software:
1. Make sure the scanner is connected to the internet (e.g. by running iexplore.exe and going to a known site).
2. Execute the file c:\Program Files\ONI\OrthOne\WebEx\atsmt.msi
3. Follow the prompts to move through the first screens and accept the license agreement. Don’t change any of the defaults.
Occasional progress indicators will pop up and go away as the program installs.
4. Continue accepting the defaults and moving through the screens until you see the screen in Figure 2-33.
Figure 2-33: WebEx configuration entries

5. Type in the site acronym in the Computer name field and the string
ONIsupport.webex.com/ONIsupport in the Website URL field.

The computer name here is completely independent of the host

name used by Windows XP.

6. Continue accepting defaults to complete the software setup.

The last screen asks if you want to reboot the computer immediately. For this application, a reboot is necessary to complete the
software installation.
The software is now installed. To ensure that the system is working properly, test operation as described in Testing below.

Testing
After the software installation and configuration restoration are complete, test the archiving, DICOM transfer, and printing
functions of the system.

Consult the Operator’s Guide for detailed information on performing the functions described in this section.
Printing is discussed in Chapter 9; archiving, retrieving, and transferring studies are covered in Chapter 10.

1. Collect a series of images and use the archive function to archive them to a disk in the DVD-RAM drive.
2. If applicable, restore the default printer recorded earlier.
3. Restore the DICOM transfer destinations recorded earlier.
4. Verify that images can be transferred successfully to a remote site, using DICOM transfer.
5. Send an image to the designated printer to verify proper printer communication, if applicable.
6. Perform a DQA scan to insure proper system operation.
7. Test Webex operation.
8. After confirming that all functions are operational, perform a ghost image. Rename any previously saved ghost images.
