Let’s Understand

Speech Context is the situation that brings people

together in the communication process (Dapat, 2016). It refers
to the number of the communicators and the situation the
communicators are in during the interaction (Bernardo, 2016).

Types of Speech Context

A. Intrapersonal Communication
*Communication takes place within oneself.
*It can be in the form of thinking, analyzing, dreaming, evaluating,
contemplating, meditating, or reflecting.

Three Aspects of Intrapersonal

Self-concept or Self-awareness- this is the person’s self-orientation. There

are three factors of Self-concept/self-awareness (a.) Beliefs (b.) Values
(c.) Attitudes.
Perception – the person’s focuses on the
outward outlook
Expectation- this is the future orientation of the individual which deals
with his/her life script or long-term role in the family or the society
(Hermosa, 2016)

B. Interpersonal Communication
*It refers to communication between two or more people (Bernardo,
2016)

Dynamics of Interpersonal Communication

Dyad ( Dyadic Communication) – Communication between two
people.
Small- Group Discussion – Communication among three or more people with the
same objectives and purposes (Dapat, 2016)

Public Communication
*Communication involves a large group of the audience which
usually follows the linear model of communication.
Example.
Public speaking on the campus

Mass Communication is a mediated-public communication that

reaches a much larger and father audience.
Example: Weather forecast on the radio
Let’s Apply

Write a journal.
On March of 2020, the lives of Filipinos had a drastic
change due to the rising cases of COVID-19. As a result of
this, the Department of Education suspended the classes all
through the country with the hope to contain the spread of the
virus and to protect students from getting sick. With such
actions, many were hopeful that classes would resume soon,
and everything would go back the way it used to be. However,
this was not the case. Sadly, the opening of school year was
first moved from June 1 to August 24 and then again, moved
to October 5, 2020 and face-to-face classes were prohibited
which left the students and parents to little option but to
consider the distance learning through the use of modular
and/or online.
Your task is to write your thoughts on the new learning
modalities that the students have to take to continue education
amidst COVID-19 pandemic.
Let’s Analyze
Using a Triple VENN Diagram, write the similarities and
