The document is a forum discussion thread about a 2012 Chevy Duramax diesel truck that developed an air problem in the fuel system after changing the fuel filter. The owner is unable to start the truck and has been loosening the bleed valve to pump air out, but the air keeps returning. Other forum members provide suggestions, including checking the fuel filter gasket and bleed screw for leaks, replacing the bleed screw, and switching to a different fuel filter brand to prevent air from entering the system.

Subject: duramax diesel, got air in fuel, need help!!

got a 2012 chevy with duramax diesel, changed the fuel filter
Manitoba couple days ago and have been fighting an air problem since.
truck has run for several hour since then but takes four to five
seconds to get it to fire each time you start the truck. now it
was off through the night, went to start it this morning and
can't get it to fire. each time this has happened I have loosened
the bleed valve on top of filter house and pumped the air out
(several times)and it always gets it going but what else can I do
to finally get this air lock out? If my gasket on filter had come
out of place when installing I should have fuel running all over
and I don't so I think its just air in the system.

It was once the top gasket on the fuel filter on mine. Last
time it happened it was the top bleed screw. Bought 2
brass ones on ebay. Solved the problem. Second one I
carry along with me, just in case.

I think it was the bleed screw, when I tried to take it

Manitoba out and broke off on me so it must've been cracked
and letting air in while the truck was off.

Dealer in melita or killarney should have the

plastic ones in stock. They dont take much
torque to strip them.

I had trouble with mine one time getting air and it was an
SE Missouri el cheapo o'reilley filter not wanting to seat good. Switched
to a napa gold and have had no problems.

I also put grease around the top of the filter where the o-
ring goes to keep it in place and insure it will stay in place.

Always happened to me on a 2013 when using napa

Southwest Iowa filter...changed to a oem filter and never had a
problem....sometimes they said it would happen other
times they said no one complained...
