ARCG 213 – ARCHITECTURAL CONSTRUCTION I
Final Exam- Part-B (Online: Not an open book exam)
Date: (05th Jan 2022), Time: (09:30am-10:30am) (Duration: 2 Hours)

Please read carefully the instructions for the Final Exam below
i. The Final exam will be in two parts. First Part A (45 minutes) will appear first than Part B (60 minutes) will appear on BB. After Part A
of the Exam is finished, you must download the answering template for Part B, which appear as soon as Part A exam is finished. You will
be allowed (15minutes) for this procedure after Part A finishes;
ii. The Part B will be uploaded as an Assignment, which will appear at the mark of the second hour in the Final exam;
iii. Part A has twenty (20) multiple choice questions, while Part B has three (3) sketching and brief explanation questions;
iv. For the Final Exam, please be ready to print the template answering sheet file loaded on BB (available after Part A finishes) and to scan
and convert the different answer sheets into a SINGLE PDF FILE to be attach to BB for Part B of the Exam;
v. Please follow the below steps accurately;
a) Add the correct Student ID and Full name as in the registration form in the space provided in the template for answering Part B of the
final exam;
b) Place the correct question number in the template to match the question number on BB online for Part B;
c) Using your handwriting and hand sketching to answer all the questions;
d) Use only Blue or Black ink for answering, all sketches and answers should be clear and answered with correct spelling than converted to
PDF file;
e) The last page of the answering sheet must include a photo of your UOB student card for identification, please copy and paste photo of your
student card with your photo and student ID number is clearly shown;
f) After you finished all the answers place your hand signature on each answering sheet at the bottom; and
g) Scan the different answering sheets with correct question numbers and sequence to convert them into a single PDF file and attach your
answers template sheets onto BB. Therefore give yourself minimum 15 minutes to scan and upload the PDF file on to BB; and
h) Any technical issue with internet or problems due to equipment affecting the quality of answer sheets and their legibility (text and sketches)
will affect the grading.
vi. You are required to arrive and open your BB and MS teams for Final exam on the 05th Oct 2021 starting 8:00 am (a link for MS team will
be provided)
vii. You have to open your cameras on MS Teams 15 minutes before the final exam start, your face should be clearly visible, and you are not
allowed to look sideways, up or down but only directly at your computer screen. If you fail to do so you face penalty mark deductions;
viii. You are required to synchronize your computer clock to Bahrain standard time and close all previous sessions of Blackboard or any opened
browser page on your computer before attempting to open the Final Exam. Please do not open any other website as it may affect your
connection to blackboard and Final Exam session.
ix. For Part A of the Final Exam, One question at a time will appear for you to answer, please answer and move to the next question. Please
make sure you answered all questions.
x. All the regulations of the University of Bahrain apply to the Final Exam;
xi. All University of Bahrain regulations concerning cheating by any means in the exam will be reported and your exam will be graded as
zero;
xii. You are required to finish the exam on time and submit or the exam will be submitted automatically at the end of Final Exam time finishes;
xiii. Any late submission will not be allowed and Zero grade will be automatically allotted;
xiv. Some question are randomized;
xv. Only answers with correct spelling of technical terms or keywords from the pdf of chapters will be accepted as correct answers;
xvi. Not attempting the Final Exam due to any technical issues or absence for any reason means a zero marks will be automatic (subject to UoB
regulations);
xvii. Make-up of Final Exam will be not be allowed

Note: Please make sure that the answering sheets are filled out with;
i. Correct question numbers;
ii. Student ID;
iii. Student full name as in registration forms;

v. All the sketches and brief explanations have to be in the right spaces in the answering
sheet;
vi. Please place your sign on the bottom of every answering sheet; and
vii. Last page of the answering sheet should include a copy of your official registration form
for this semester-I of academic year 2021-22.

Question no. 21: Sketch the types of shell structures and explain very briefly about their geometry or
curvature characteristics, which makes them different from each other. (Please use the labeled answering
template sheets for sketches and explanation, then scan and upload the file to Blackboard)
Question no. 22: Please name the structure in the figure below. Further, explain in brief using the correct
terminology what type of load distribution exists at points (1 and 2) on the dash lines in the figure shown
below. (Please use the labeled answering template sheets to answer then scan and upload the file to Blackboard)
Question no. 23: Please name and sketch the three types of Geodesic domes. Further, in one or two
sentences explain briefly (with arrows on the sketches) the number of supports, the thrust direction at the
base of the geodesic domes and how this thrust is resisted in each type of geodesic dome. (Please use the
labeled answering template sheets for sketches and explanation, then scan and upload the file to Blackboard)
