REVITALIZED HOMEROOM GUIDANCE PROGRAM NARRATIVE

The COVID-19 Pandemic has created a very large effect on the different aspects
of education. Aside from the usual teaching and learning process that undertakes
on every c o r n e r s   o f   e a c h   c l a s s r o o m ,   t h i s   p a n d e m i c   h a s
a l s o   c r e a t e d   a n   i m p a c t i n   t e r m s o f   t h e domains of development of every learners.
While the Department of Education is doing its best thru its Basic Education Learning
Continuity Plan, it is very important to also give priority on the life skills
development of learners which will empower them to overcome the different challenges
and adapt to the “new normal” brought about by the current crisis.
In line with this, the Department has created Homeroom Guidance which 
i s   a proactive program designed to equip K to 12 learners with life skills on three
domains: Academic Development, Personal and Social Development and Career
Development. This program is essential to ensure access to quality guidance and counseling
services to all types of learners. In the case of my students in Grade 8-Compassion,
we use modular modality in implementing this program. Every day, we allot one hour on
mentoring and discussion of every given modules. I asked the parents of my students to join
also during our scheduled mentoring so that they will know how to explain the content of the
module and observe by themselves the development of their child. Also, I discussed the
Homeroom Guidance Assessment Result during our Parent- Teacher Conference last
October 4,2021.
