Introduction
Coffee is one of the most popular beverages around the world. Coffee beverage had
been discovered by a sheep in the 15th century where after the sheep ingests the coffee cherry
it became hyperactive and its owner accidentally saw the incidents and he tried the coffee
cherry as well and became much more energetic and refreshing. Since then coffee culture has
been widely spread all around the world by European countries. There are 2 major types of
coffee beans which are arabica and robusta. Arabica coffee beans normally plant at 1500 m
above sea water level while robusta coffee beans plant at 200-1200m above sea water level.
Arabica coffee beans had contributed around 60% of the coffee beans production around the
world while another 40% were robusta. Arabica coffee beans have is in oval shape and have
various kind of taste such as fruity flavour, flowery flavour, tea-like flavour and some have
the taste like chocolate, meanwhile on robusta it has a stronger taste such as ashy, dark-
chocolate and bitter flavour where we normally will taste at the restaurant or kopitiam. Most
of the coffee beans came from Africa and North America such as Brazil, Colombia, Mexico,
Ethiopia, Panama (Gesha), Kenya. Only a few countries in Asia produced coffee beans which
are China (Yunnan and Taiwan), Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia (Sabah (Sabarica) and Johor
(Liberica)). There are various kinds of coffee brewing methods which are using espresso
machine, filter method/ drip coffee, french press, turkish brew, cold brew (with drinking
water or milk), vacuum pot, moka pot, nitro-cold brew and aeropress. Different methods of
brewing will produce different types of coffee beverages. Normally coffee beverages are
served either hot or cold which we are able to get in café. While homemade coffee is now a
new trend since last year when we were facing the pandemic, most of the cafes have shut
down and coffee lovers can’t even get their daily coffee needs. And lots of coffee bean
roasters such as Discover coffee, Mimosa coffee, MyLiberica, Well coffee, Lighthouse
roastery, Dou Yuan, Drum Coffee Roaster etc., have innovated some new products that
enable their customers to make their own coffee at home. This has been a new coffee market
in Malaysia and it hasn't been saturated and is our chance to step foot front and join the new
coffee market.
Snacking is one of the common habits people share to destress and unwind from daily
activities and some have a snacking routine to curb hunger between mealtimes. Snacking
really is a delectable routine but oftentimes it may lead to binge eating. So, what is the
solution to this phenomenon? How can we practice this habit in moderation? Well, one of the
methods is to choose a snack that has a crunchy texture. Snacks with a crispy or crunchy
texture have always been a way for people to slow down on chewing as it requires more jaw
movement in order to fully break down large food chunks into smaller bits before getting to
2
enjoy the taste of said snack. Variety in the types of snacks we consume can also greatly
enhance our snacking routine because it allows us to take a moment to really savour the taste
of the snacks which is one of the ways to slow down our fast-chewing habit. Even just by
increasing the variety of snacks, we can munch responsibly as there are other options
available at hand and manage the time we choose to snack on them. Thus, our group has come
up with different types of snacks that can tend to your daily cravings; from the sweet and
delectable to the savoury elements, we hope to aid in curbing those pesky snack cravings. The
snacks we offer are Japanese snacks, popcorn and maruku (aka “Murukku”, a traditional
Indian snack popular in Malaysia).
Fertilizer refers to substances that can supply nutrients needed by crop growth and
development, improve soil properties, and increase crop yield and quality. Is an important
means of production in agricultural production. Generally divided into organic fertilizer,
inorganic fertilizer, and biological fertilizer. It can also be divided into farm fertilizers and
chemical fertilizers according to their sources. According to the components, it is divided into
nitrogen fertilizer, potassium fertilizer, trace element fertilizer, and rare earth element
fertilizer. In ancient times, fertilizer was called manure, and fertilization became a manure
field. For most modern agricultural practices, fertilization focuses on three main
macronutrients: Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K) with the occasional
addition of supplements like Calcium (Ca), Boron (B), Zinc (Zn), Manganese (Mn) and
Magnesium (Mg) for micronutrients. However, the Water Soluble Fertilizer (WSF) is a kind
of multi-component compound fertilizer which can be completely dissolved in water. It can
be quickly dissolved in water and easily absorbed by crops. Moreover, its absorption and
utilization rate is relatively high. More importantly, it can be applied to facilities agriculture
such as spray drip irrigation, realizing the integration of water and fertilizer, and achieving the
efficiency of saving water, fertilizer, and labor. Generally speaking, water-soluble fertilizers
can contain all the nutrient elements needed for crop growth. In this way, people can
completely design the formula according to the nutritional requirements of crop growth, and
scientific formula will not cause waste of fertilizer so that its fertilizer utilization rate is
almost 2-3 times that of conventional compound chemical fertilizer. Secondly, water-soluble
fertilizer is a quick-acting fertilizer, which allows growers to see the effect and performance
of fertilizer quickly and can adjust the fertilizer formula at any time according to the different
growth of crops. Of course, the application method of water-soluble fertilizer is very simple,
and it can be applied with irrigation water including sprinkler irrigation, drip irrigation, etc.,
which not only saves water, but also saves fertilizer, and also saves labor. The benefits of
using water-soluble fertilizer are obvious in the case of increasing labor costs. As the
application method of water-soluble fertilizer is irrigation with water, the fertilization is
3
extremely uniform, which also lays a solid foundation for improving the yield and quality.
Generally, water-soluble fertilizer has fewer impurities and low conductivity, and its
concentration is very convenient to adjust, so it is safe even for young seedlings, so there is no
need to worry about causing adverse consequences such as burning seedlings. Therefore, we
recommend different kinds of water-soluble fertilizers to meet the needs of plants.

Business and product description
HUPL Food Support is a team consisting of six students from Universiti Terengganu
Malaysia. Our aim is to provide and ensure that our products can elevate the enjoyment of
snacking and gardening of our future customers. Our team will be selling four types of
products namely homemade coffee, a variety of snacks, homemade bird’s nest drink and
fertiliser as our supplementary product.
One of our products to be marketed online is the coffee drip bag. Coffee drip bags
had been invented in 2019 in China and had been passed into our country last year during the
pandemic. It has become famous around Malaysia, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru,
Penang, etc. We will cooperate with Octagon Cafe which is located at Kuala Terengganu,
where we will use their branding to discover the market. And our product will use the name
which is Octagon Roastery. All costs will be covered by Octagon Cafe owner Kenny and the
profit will be divided into 2. Where Octagon Cafe will get half of the profit and we will get
another half, which is a double win situation. This has a huge market where most Malaysians
like coffee. The market in Kuala Terengganu hasn't been discovered yet and this will be our
challenge to hit our sales target in a short period of time. Our coffee drip bag will consist of
15g of roasted at medium light grinded coffee, the coffee beans will be placed in a cold room
to cool and rest for 3 days. After rest for 3 days, the roasted ground coffee beans will be
grinded into medium fine size and pack into the drip bag filter and used heat sealer to seal the
filter, then the drip bag filter will be pack into another packaging to reduce the oxidation rates
and affected the taste of the coffee. Then 10 drip bag coffee will be packed into our box and
ready to be sold and delivered to our customer. The box will be labeled with the details of
coffee, method on brewing the coffee and the best brewing period before the coffee beans
have been fully oxidized.
Our group’s second product will be one of the 3 types of snack bundles. This product
is named the “MoriMono” bundle that includes crunch inducing Japanese snacks namely
Honey Butter Potato Chips (60g) by Calbee, Sanritsu Couque Dasses cookies (12 packs) by
Sanritsu, Pocky sticks (2 packs) by Glico and Yuki No Yado rice crackers (150g) by Sanko-
Seika (三幸製菓). These are some all-time favourites for many people across the world, so
we have decided to pair up two savoury elements with two snacks on the sweeter side. To
ensure that the contents of this bundle will not be damaged via poor handling and shipment,
bubble wrap will be neatly wrapped around the snack packets to reduce the possibilities of
5
dents on the packaging and cracking of the snacks. Delivery of the snack bundle will be done
via Pos Malaysia Group and personal delivery. The shipment of the snack bundle will mainly
depend on the location of the buyer, so the final price for those that are interested can be
discussed via WhatsApp.
Also, another snack product that will be sold is popcorn. Popcorn was usually sold in
cinemas in the past, but recently popcorn has become increasingly popular as a daily snack as
a result of the pandemic situation that caused cinemas to close. Not only that, during this
pandemic also various activities were carried out online for example online learning faced by
students. This has caused popcorn to become increasingly popular among students who study
online to be used as a side snack while studying. The increase in demand for popcorn has led
manufacturers to produce a variety of new innovations to popcorn by producing types of
popcorn coated with various flavors such as caramel, chocolate, and strawberry. One of the
popcorn producers is a local company, ENGS legacy. Sdn. Bhd. The popcorn to be sold is
popcorn produced by this local company which provides various package sizes for sale by
their agents. The type of popcorn chosen for sale is the very popular premium caramel sauce
coated popcorn. The weight of the packages to be sold is 300gram and 600gram packages,
this can give buyers the option to buy a large size or a small size. The selection of popcorn
produced by this company is also evaluated from the aspect of its packaging, which is packed
in plastic jars that are not easily broken, and the attractive and neat packaging design with this
product quality is maintained.
Among the other snacks that will be sold is maruku. Maruku is a popular food in
Malaysia because it is easy to find and popular. In addition, maruku is a fast food that can be
stored for a long time. For example, students can buy the maruku and keep it in a container to
eat when reviewing lessons. Maruku also has many flavors like fish and chicken. One of the
factories that operates in Maruku is Thien Poh Sdn Bhd. The weight of the packages to be
sold is 50 grams. Although this product is sold in small packs it can give you satisfaction and
delight.
Our group’s third product is Water Soluble Fertilizer (WSF) such as CBK, MZ,
BOOSTER, AMINO GOLD, and NanoCa. These products are from Saliran Mampan S/B.
Next, each item has 3 packages which are 1liter, 4liters, and 10 or 20liters. For CBK,
BOOSTER, and AMINO GOLD have a package in 1liter, 4liters, and 20liters while MZ just
only has 4 liters and 20liters. Besides, NanoCa has 1lter, 4liters, and 10liters packaging only.
Furthermore, the transportation costs are not included in the pricing but we will help to
package and send through Citylink, Posstore, or FMX these 3 courier service companies and
we will depend on which area to send. But some outskirts area FMX and Posstore don't go for
6
delivery and Citylink will be charged extra chargers. Courier service charges will depend on
the weight of the goods.
Our group’s fourth product is the bird’s nest drink which is homemade. The bird
nest drink is made of 100ml of water, organic sugar and swallow bird nest. Next, I decide to
make the bird nest drink into 3 different flavours which are original, crystal sugar, and stone
bee sugar. Because of this pandemic covid-19, I will do packaging and deliver by myself. For
the convenience of customers in different regions, the transportation fees are not included in
the pricing and I will choose to send them by the bus companies. The customers can redeem
their drinks at the bus terminal. It is also a way to save the transportation fees through the
delivery by bus companies. About packaging, I'll wrap it in plastic wrap and put it in a
Styrofoam box with a few ice bags to prevent a stinky taste. The bird nest drink can last for 1
weeks after it’s manufactured. Our products do not contain any preservatives, so only a
week’s fresh period. The courier service charges of the bus terminal also depend on the
weight of the drinks.
