Auto Fare

This document proposes a project titled "An Automatic Tricycle Fare Estimation Using RFID System and GPS Monitoring". The project aims to develop a system that uses RFID cards to log passengers in and out of tricycles. GPS would be used to monitor passenger destinations and calculate fares based on distance traveled. The system would provide printed receipts with trip details and amounts owed. It seeks to provide a fair payment process for drivers and passengers, and collect transportation data for authorities. The scope is limited to the Roxas municipality area and payments would still need to be made manually. The methodology and a system design diagram will be provided. Existing technologies involving GPS, RFID, and automated fare collection are referenced.

CpE PRACTICE & DESIGN PROJECT TOPIC PROPOSAL

Proposed Title An Automatic Tricycle Fare Estimation Using RFID System and GPS Monitoring

Name of Student/ Blessie Ann Noquillo Vergonio

BSCpE – IV

Introduction A fare collection of the payment is essential especially to the passenger. An automatic
fare collection has been used mostly in the city unlike rural areas where it always
behind of the new technology. The automatic tricycle fare estimation system is used to
collect a fare payment for the passenger around Roxas municipality. It monitors the
destination of the passenger and estimate the equivalent amount of the distance to the
cost of the payment. The RFID card will serve as the log in and log out of the
passenger which also record the detail of passenger [1]. For receipt, the system will
provide a printed receipt for the passenger containing the distance of his/her
destination and the amount he/she must pay. The integration of the internet of thing
allows the device to control remotely across existing network infrastructure. Improving
such collecting, recording and estimating data will enhance economic development and
service delivery [2]. Collecting data from commuters has been essential for the
authorities who collect data manually which at some point have a human error. Internet
of things make an accurate and time efficient way of collecting data [3]. Global
positioning has become useful and significant for the security and safety of each
people. Through this we can know to find location and track people also the vehicle to
monitor their mobility with the mobile phone connected to this [4].
Statement of the Problem The project design titled “A tricycle having an automatic fare estimation using RFID
card and destination monitoring” to give a proper way of payment operation. Some new
passengers are mistreating by some driver to have more profit and some are over fee
and vice versa. This study conducts for the benefits of the driver and the passenger to
have a fair transaction.
Objectives of the Study The study aims to:
1. Develop an automatic fare estimation fee for tricycle driver.
2. Provide an RFID card for the passenger.
3. Gives the driver an easy and fast transaction towards the passenger
4. Monitor the location of the passenger for tracking purposes.
5. Have a database monitoring regarding the total passenger each day.
6. Provide a printed receipt for the passenger
Scope and Limitation of the The scope of the study is about providing efficiency in the operation of collecting fee to
Study the passenger. Giving a printed receipt containing the amount and the kl/hrs. that the
passenger travelled also the distance. Locating the tricycle for safety purposes using
the GPS module. the system provides a database of how many passengers that a
tricycle has each day. the study limited in terms of having an automatic fare collection
where the passenger can only pay manually. And the destination is around Roxas only.
The tricycle are limited to only 5 passenger.
Existing Technology, Methods Students must discuss at least 15 Existing Methods and Studies/Patent that will help
and Studies/Patents answer how the requirements of the study will be met. An adequate literature and
previous study review is required in all research proposals. The purpose of the literature
review should:
• Provide evidence to the panelist that you are well acquainted with past and
current research in the field of study.
