What Is Teaching Approach

Teaching is a process that involves planning instruction, implementing lessons in the classroom through interaction with students, and evaluating student learning and providing feedback to improve instruction. Concept of teaching

Teaching is a process in which one individual teaches or instructs another individual. Teaching is
considered as the act of imparting instructions to the learners in the classroom situation. It is watching
systematically. As stated by (Dewey): it is a manipulation of the situation, where the learner will acquire
skills and insight with his own initiation.

What is teaching approach - It is a set of principles, beliefs, or ideas about the nature of learning which
is translated into the classroom. An approach is a way of looking at teaching and learning. Underlying
any language teaching approach is a theoretical view of what language is, and of how it can be learned.

How important are teaching approaches for ideal results in education?

According to researchgate.com
Teaching approaches are an important aspect of teaching and learning: it determines the activities of
teachers and students, the quality of the teaching process, implicitly sending a message about what
teaching is, how children learn, and what is knowledge.

According to Physicscatalyst.com
The teaching process can be divided into three phases/stages.

1.) Pre-active phase – refers to planning

2.) Interactive phase – refers to the conduct and management
3.) Post-active phase – refers to the follow-up and consolidation

The pre-active phase of teaching: -

It is the phase of planning for teaching. Good planning makes the task of the teacher smooth, functional
and successful. There one two major steps involved in this phase. Establishment of some kind of goals or
objectives. Discovering ways and means to active these objectives.

The interactive phase of teaching: -

This phase refers to the execution of the plan made during the pre-active phase. This is actual classroom
teaching. In this phase, the teacher gives students the learning experiences through some suitable
modes. In this phase, teachers give learners a pre-determined environment. The teacher interacts with
students so that desired changes can be brought in the learner. So learning is directed in pre-
determined directions to achieve pre-determined goals. In this process, the teacher provides learners
with verbal stimulation.

The post-active phase of teaching

It is the evaluation phase of teaching. It arises when the teacher has left the class and tries to have a
look back into what happened in the class. This phase is concerned with the following activities.
(a) Evaluation Activities: –
These activities are performed in various ways, e.g., tests or quizzes by observing student’s reactions to
questions, instructional situations, comments, and etc.
The Nature of Teaching as a Process.

Teaching is fundamentally a process, including planning, implementation, evaluation, and revision.

Planning and teaching a class are familiar ideas to most instructors. More overlooked are the steps of
evaluation and revision. Without classroom assessments or some other means of receiving feedback on
a regular basis, it is surprisingly easy to misunderstand whether a particular teaching method, approach,
or strategy has been effective.

A teacher can create an environment of mutual trust and respect by relying on students for feedback --
students can be a valuable resource for verifying whether the class pedagogy is (or isn't) working. Self-
examination with feedback from your students and the instructor are key to improving your teaching.

What are the 5 approaches to teaching?

The five major approaches are Constructivist, Collaborative, Integrative, Reflective and Inquiry-Based
Learning

• According to (Pritchard & Woollard, 2010)

Constructivist Approach is based on the central notion that learners construct their own understanding
of the world around them based on experience as they live and grow. They select and transform
information from past and current knowledge and experience into new personal knowledge and
understanding.

According to (Laal & Laal, 2012)

Collaborative Approach is an educational approach to -
“Inquiry Based Approach requires more than simply answering questions or getting a right answer. It
espouses investigation, exploration, search, quest, research, pursuit, and study.

• In accordance with (Regional Memorandum No. 233, s. 2016)

Reflective Teaching-Learning Approach means looking at what the teacher and learners do in the
classroom, thinking about why they do it, and analyzing it if it works. This is a process of self-evaluation
or self-observation.
I came from a broken family, my mother and father separated their ways when I was an infant but still, I
am thankful to God that my Lola took care of me and love me unconditionally despite the things that
were happened.

In the year 2009, I graduated from Antonio L. Jayme Elementary School. It was the first and foremost
fulfilling moment of my life where my family is joyfully happy with my accomplishment.

In the year 2016, I graduated my junior high from Bacolod City National High School but before that, I
stopped 3 times in my junior high due to cutting classes and addiction to online games. Furthermore, I
praise God for those people who are His instruments to spread His powerful words because this is also
the time that I know Jesus Christ through the campus ministry of Covenant Life Church. As a result,
slowly all my vices were gone and it changed my entire personality and behavior. Indeed, this was the
most significant turning point of my life.

In the year 2019, I graduated from my senior high level in Bacolod City Senior High School. This was a
fulfilling moment because I already fulfill my promise to my Lola to finish my senior high school. seeing
my Lola crying while going to the stage to take my medals and diploma.

Moreover, it was a momentous part of my life because I was so excited to experience college life and to
take my dream course which is education.

And now it is already 2021, I am a third-year level in my college as well as presently taking up Bachelor in
Secondary Education Major in Social Studies at Bago City College. Moreover, I am still continuing my
passion for music. Nevertheless, I am still in the process of making my story.
