MODULE 1

LESSON 1: Custom Business Report Writing & Other Macro Skills in English

ACTIVITY

Instruction: Look at the photo and describe it how and what are they doing?
 As I looked at the photo, I observed that the people in the image was having a
business meeting and having conversation with each other like they were having
discussions about their business.

ANALYSIS
Instruction: Answer briefly the following questions below in the space provided.

1. What have you observed in the photo shown above?


 I observed in the photo shown above that the people are having a meeting . I also
infer that they are discussing about some kind of business and that they are
sharing their thoughts and opinions to each other.

2. Have you encountered business meetings? it?If ‘yes’, explain how do you handle
business meetings? If ‘no’, how will you manage business meetings?
 No, I haven’t encountered business meeting yet but maybe in the future, I plan to
manage business meeting mainly by learning how to properly communicate with
business partners for us to be able to understand each other. In order to properly
communicate business partners or handle business meetings, I should know how
to fluently speak in English language so that the business meeting can be
successful.

APPLICATION

1. What can you infer about reading, writing, listening and speaking in EBP or
English for Business Purposes? (10pts)
 Reading, writing, listening and speaking are huge assets that a person or a
businessman should acquire in order to become successful. Through reading, one
can understand written information like data, forms and written business
transactions. It is also essential in order to understand the concept of all business
negotiations. Writing is also important in business specially in doing reports,
mails, forms and other written information about the business. Listening plays an
important role in business specially in business meetings and transactions. A
person should learn to listen to be able to analyze and understand what is going
on with the business. Lastly, speaking. Speaking is very important in doing
business because it is your main weapon in encountering business partners. It is
very important to successfully communicate verbally and speak confidently so
that communication would work leading to success in you business. To be able to
effectively do all of these, learning English language is very important.

2. Assess yourself from 1-10 on how are you prepared in molding and learning
English for Business Purposes and explain why you rate it? (10pts)
 7 - I assess myself in this level because I already encountered English subjects
before and I can infer that I can speak, write and read English but still, there is so
much more that I should learn specially using English language for business
purposes that’s why I rated my self 7.

3. Explain why business communication does the line to get connected?


 Communication enables connection between two or more people. For
communication to succeed, sender and the receiver should understand each others
language and gestures. In business, communication makes connection happen
because it enables business to work. Communication connects everyone that is
involve in the business like staffs, business owners and business partners . If
business communication becomes successful, a business becomes progressive and
effective.

LESSON 2: Important Elements of Business Correspondence

ACTIVITY
Instruction: Look at the photo below and guess what elements of business drawn in
the illustration.
 The possible elements of business that are shown in the picture are, meetings,
presentations, conference call, and emails/reports.

ANALYSIS
Instruction: Answer briefly the following questions below in the space provided

1. Based on the picture above, give your thoughts about it and what do you think they
are doing?
 Looking at the photo above, I thinks that they are doing business elements like
having meeting, doing presentations and making reports/emails.

2. Do you have e-mail address? If, yes, have you used it for connecting to
someone? How do you send e-mails to him/her?

 Yes, I have an email address and I used it for work and study purposes. I utilize
my email to send files and access portals connected to my studies like google
classroom and attending online classes. When I send emails to someone, I
properly state my intention using English language if necessary.

APPLICATION
Instruction: Answer briefly the following questions below in the space provided

1. Do you agree with the platform of flexible learning (modular or online) today? And
do you think it affects the learning of English Business Process? Explain, why?
 Yes, I definitely agree with the Learning modality that we are using this present
days which is modular or online learning because It is necessary and important to
follow health and safety protocols so that we keep ourselves away from harm and
danger. In contrast, flexible learning In my own opinion is not that effective for
students for it has many disadvantages specially in the learning process of
students. I also agree that It affects the learning of English Business process
because not all students take online learning seriously. I also believe that students
learn more through face to face learning platform.

2. Among the important elements of English business process, which do you think is
strongly applied to yourself? And, why?
 For me, the element of business process that strongly applies to myself is
emails/reports because I like making visual presentations or typing information
and data. I am also not that comfortable in presenting or speaking In front of
people and it is one thing that I should develop.

3. Write a cover letter (business letter) and send it to my email


([email protected]) or via LMS application when you get connected to
internet within the week. If you could not send because of poor connectivity or you
are in a modular learning, please write it in a short bond paper, take a picture and then
send it to me in the FB page/Messenger group chat account.

Production Production refers to making or producing
something by using raw materials.
Sell Refers to trading some goods or services
in exchange for money
Advertisement Refers to promoting specific product to
people like advertising billboard or ads
that we see in internet
Internet Internet refers to international network
that provides lots of information and
enables long distance communication.
Risk Refers to a situation where you are close
to harm, danger or loss.
Market Market refers to a place where selling
products happens.
Venture Refers to taking on a journey with risks
waiting
Proposal Refers to an idea or a plan that someone
suggest.

2. In your definition of e-commerce, does it really exist nowadays? If, yes how?
 Yes, E-commerce exist and is very very important in business nowadays specially
that we are in an era where technology and social media has become part of our
everyday lives. E-commerce is very useful to business owners and businessman
that offers goods and services online.
