Case Study :

After Covid-19 Pandemic and facing its devastating outcomes, Pakistan is now facing
a big challenge of dealing with flood. This terrible flood also severely hit one of the
national assets of our economy that is the textile industry. As Pakistan is the key
supplier of textile in international market and the fifth largest cotton producer. In such
situation where cotton crops are largely destroyed it is directly impacting the
production of textile units. At this time most brands had reacted by shifting to
alternative raw material. Moreover, there is a dire need of having creative workforce
on board that helps them to handle the crisis wisely.

Dekon Mills is one of the leading Textile manufacturers in Pakistan. The company is
ranked among top five companies dealing internationally. It is among the largest
exporters of home textiles, fiber, yarn and thread in different countries with an annual
sale of 70 million USD. The company is more focused on building their capability
through their workforce that bring unique design and product that helps to maintain
their competitive advantage. Dekon Corp. continuously did their capability
assessment semiannually to maintain their competitive position in the market. HR
department also work with their top management to assess the immediate and near
future workforce requirements. It is also important consideration to match the
projected supply and demand of workforce.

Viewing the above-mentioned catastrophic situation in Pakistan along with the


goals of the Dekon Mills.

Consider yourself as HR manager of Dekon Mills with a specific focus of HR


planning with the current era demands.

1. Considering the implementation of action plan to match the supply and demand of
workforce, what kind of specific resources would be required? At least write four
relevant resources. (4 marks)

2. You are required to draw a recruitment yield pyramid by considering the following
instructions; Where new hires are 60, offer made to actual new hire is 2:1, the ratio of
candidate interviewed to offer made is 3:2, candidate invited for interviews to
candidate interviewed is 4:3, and HR manager come to know that eight leads come
from all recruiting sources with 8:1. (6 marks)
