looking at or watching, as of watching a television program. Viewing helps students to slow

learners from being recipients of learning activities, to actively utilizing these new skills and
knowledge and ultimately being active agents of change in their own environments.
Reflection/discussion – after having the follow up activities, the discussion/reflection will follow in

2. The measure of choosing well is whether or not a man likes what he ______.
a. Has chosen c. Chose
b. Is choosing d. Choose
The statement is from the view of Charles Lamb which states “The measure of choosing well, is, whether a
man likes and finds good in what he has chosen”.
Also if we do the elimination method, B and D will be eliminated already because if does not fit in the given
statement. Now we’ll going to deal the 2 options which is A and C. The words chose and chosen are both
past tense forms of the verb choose. Chose is a simple past tense verb, while chosen is the past participle
form. Combined with an auxiliary verb (like have or has), chosen is used to form the past perfect tense. We
usually use the past perfect to make it clear which action happened first. With this, I believe that has
chosen (letter A) is the right option.
Being human involves the pain and the love of life but that is not all that defines what it is to be human. The
human condition is compounded with community, the range of emotions that we so deeply experience is
inextricably linked to the people we feel these emotions about. In an essay from cram.com entitled human
condition in Oedipus the King, Oedipus believes that if he can identify his own condition then it will provide
him with an understanding of the lives of the people he interacts with because human condition does not
come entirely from within. The human condition of any person has to grow off of the lives of other people.
The human condition is the emotions that humans not only feel for themselves but also the emotions that
are felt for and with others. Overall, the human condition is the links of humanity.

Despite the positive evidence for the impact of electronic media on cognitive skills, a key issue is whether
those skills transfer beyond gaming into everyday life. There is evidence that viewing educational TV
programs can enhance transference to other learning. One US study showed that watching a math
program in schools for six weeks led to improved performance on math problems not shown in the
program. So, with this, I guess option A and C will be eliminated first.
Further, according to Daley (2014), despite the many potential benefits, concerns still remain about the
impact on attention spans. Other research has found a link between TV exposure and subsequent
attention. One important study found that TV exposure at age 14 did predict attention problems at age 16,
even after controlling for important child and family variables. Children who watched more than three hours
a day were at greatest risk. Hence, the best option here is letter C.

a. P75,000 c. P15,000
b. P30,000 d. P60,00
Solution:
Given: P120,000 - cash
5:2:1 – ratio of brothers
Largest share - Smallest share = ?
5+2+1=8
P120,000 ÷ 8 = 15,000

83. Joan bought 120 handkerchiefs at 10 pesos. Then she sold them at 3 handkerchiefs for P50. If she sold all the
handkerchiefs, how much profit did she make?
a. P400 c. P733
b. P800 d. P170
Solution:
Given: 120 handkerchiefs at P10
3 handkerchiefs at P50
Profit = sales - expenses
Explanation:
To solve the expenses, we need to multiply 120 handkerchiefs by P10 which is equal to 1,200. Then, to find
the sales we should base it to our given which is 3 handkerchiefs for P50 so we divide the 3 handkerchiefs to 120
handkerchiefs to find the exact number of handkerchiefs for us to find the total sales so 120 ÷ 3 = 40. Now, we have
to multiply 40 by the cost which is P50 and that will result to 2,000. Now, we have our sales and expenses. To find
the profit we need to subtract our expenses from our sales so that would be 2000 - 1200 = 800. So, our profit is
P800.
86. The average of 5 different numbers is 10. What is highest possible value that one of the numbers can have?
a. 20 b. 40 c. 30 d. 38
Solution:
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + x = 50
10 + x = 50
x = 50 - 10
x = 40
Explanation:
So first, we need to find the sum of scores by the given numbers. The average of 5 different numbers is 10
so the sum of the 5 scores should be 50 since 50 divided by 5(number of scores) is 10. Now we have the sum of
scores so we can now solve for the 5 different numbers. To find the highest possible number we should suppose that
the 4 different numbers are 1,2,3 and 4 so that we can find the HIGHEST POSSIBLE number. So, 1+2+3+4+x=50
and then add the 4 diff. numbers so 10+x=50. Next is we need to transpose the 10 so that we will now be left with x
in the other side so it becomes x = 50-10. So, x = 40.
Checking:
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 40 = 50
50. 5 = 10
87. What value of x will satisfy the equation 0.2 (2x + 1470) =x?
a. 490 c. 1470
b. 2,130 d. 560
Solution:
0.2 (2x + 1470) = x
0.2 (2x + 1470) - (x) = 0
-1x + 0.2 (2x + 1470) = 0
-1x + 0.4x + 294 = 0
-0.6x + 294 = 0
-0.6x = -294
-0.6x-0.6 = -294-0.6
x = 490
Explanation:
First, we move all terms to the left, so 0.2 (2x + 1470) - (x) = 0. Then, we add all the numbers and variables
together. After that, we follow the PEMDAS rule so parenthesis first. Multiply 2x by 0.2 and 1470 by 0.2 so we now
have -1x + 0.4x + 294 = 0. Next is combine like terms so it will result to -0.6x + 294 = 0. Then, move all terms
containing x to the left and all other terms to the right. Then, to determine the x we should divide it by -0.6 so that x
will remain on the left side. Finally, we have 490 as our value of x that will satisfy the equation 0.2 (2x + 1470) =x.
a. X – 4 c. X + 6
b. X + 2 d. X + 4
89. Julie spent one-sixth of her money in one store. In the store, she spent three times as much as she in the first
store, and had 80 pesos left. How much money did she have at the start?
a. 240 pesos c. 300 pesos
b. 252 pesos d. 360 pesos
Solution:
The first thing we need to do is to make equations from the informations
we are given.
On the first store, Julie spent of her money, , this would be expressed as . And
since we let be the money spent on the first store, should be equal to .( )
On the second store, she spent times as much as how much she spent on the first
store, , this would be expressed as .
The total money spent on two stores would be expressed as and since ,
we can further simplify the total money spent as:
The remaining money can be expressed as and since after she spent money on
the two stores, she had pesos left. and should be equal. Now we can solve
for .
90. What part of an hour has passed from 2:48 pm to 3:40 pm?
a. 7/8 c. 8/15
b. 1/3 d. 8/2.5
Solution:
3:40pm – 2:48pm = 52
52/60 = 13/15
Explanation:
We should find the difference from 2:48pm to 3:40 pm. So, we subtract it and the result is 52 minutes. Next,
we have to know what part of an hour is 52minutes so we will divide it by 60minutes and the result is 13/15.
92. A street vendor sells roasted peanuts at P5 per packet of 25 gm which she bought for P80 per kilo. She spent
P20 for oil, fuel, and plastic bags. What is her net gain from selling all the peanuts?
a. P480 c. P360
b. P380 d. P400
Solution:
Given: P5 per 25gm
P80 per kilo
P20 for oil, fuel and plastic bags
1kg = 1000gm
1000grams/25grams = 40 packs
40packs x P5 = 200
a. 7 b. -6 c. -8 d. 5
Rationalization:
Solution:
Let x = 5
X2-9/x+3
= 25-9/5+3
=25-9/8
= 16/8
=2
Explanation: To find the value of x2-9/x+3 when x is equal to 5, we need to
substitute 5 in every x in the equation. So that will be, 5 squared minus 9 all over
5 plus 3. Five squared is equals to 25 so it will become 25 minus 9 all over 8.
Then, 25 minus 9 is equal to 16; and 16 divided by 8 is equal to 2. Therefore, the
value of x2-9/x+3 (x squared minus 9 all over x plus 3) when x is 5 is equal to 2.
94. What are the missing terms in the series 5, 10, 20 __, 80__320?
a.50,210 c. 35,135
b. 40,160 d. 40,120
Rationalization:
Geometric Sequence:
5x2 =10
10x2 =20
20x2 = 40
40x2 = 80
80x2 = 160
160x2 = 320
Explanation: This problem is an example of a GEOMETRIC SEQUENCE. First of all we need to find
the common ratio of the geometric sequence. To find the common ratio, we need to get the
second and first term of the geometric sequence and divide them. So that would be 10 divided
by 5; and the quotient is 2. Thus, our common ratio is 2. Then, multiply the terms to 2 to yield
the next missing term. So in the problem we have two missing terms which is the 4th term and
the 6th term. To find them, we need to multiply 20 and 80 to our common ratio. So, 20 times 2
is equal to 40. And 80 times 2 is equal 160. Therefore, the missing terms in our geometric
sequence is 40 and 160.
95. All the seats in a bus are occupied and six persons are standing. At
the next bus stop, 13 persons got off and 5 got in. How many seats were
empty after this stop if everyone had a seat?
A. 24 b. 23 c. 0 d. 2
Rationalization:
Before
X+ 6
(X+6) – 13 + 5
Equation: (X+6) – 13 + 5
Solution:
(X+6) – 13 + 5
= x + 6 - 13 + 5
= x – 7 + 5
=x-2
Therefore, there were two empty seats knowing that everyone had a seat
.
Explanation: To answer this problem, we need to let x to represent as all the seats in
the bus are occupied. Then, we have to convert first and second sentence into an
equation. In the first sentence, all the seats in a bus are occupied and six persons are
standing, so that would be converted into x + 6. In the second sentence, at the next bus
stop, 13 persons got off and 5 got in; that can be translated into (x+6) – 13 + 5. The
word “got off” represents subtraction the word “got in” represents addition. Lastly, we
need to perform the equation from left to right. So that would be (x+6 – 13 + 5. Six
minus 13 is equal to negative 7. Negative 7 plus 5 is equal to negative 2. So our final
answer would be x minus 2. X minus 2 means that there were two seats empty knowing
that everyone had a seat.
96. A, B and C are consecutive numbers. If A>B>C, what is the value of (A-B) (A-C)
(B-C)?
a. -2 b. 2 c. 1 d. -1
Rationalization:
Solution:
Explanation: To find the value of (A-B) times (A-C) times (B-C), we need to let A as x,
let B as x +1 and let C as x + 2. Then substitute them into the problem. So our new
equation will become x minus x plus 1 times x minus x plus 2 times x plus 1 minus x
plus 2. From there, add and subtract similar terms. So our x minus x is zero and what is
left is negative 1. X minus x is zero and what is left is negative 2. X minus x is zero plus
1 minus 2 is equal to negative 1. What is left is negative 1, negative 2 and negative 1.
Multiply all of them and follow the rule of multiplying integers. That would be, negative 1
times negative 2 is 2. Two times negative 1 is equal to negative 2. Therefore, the value
of (A-B) (A-C) (B-C) is equal to negative 2.
97. Which of the following could be a factor of n (n+1) if n is a
positive integer less than 3?
a. 8 b. 3 c. 9 d. 5
Rationalization:
If n = 1
n (n+1)
= 1(1+1)
= 1 (2)
= 2
Factors of 2: 1 and 2
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If n = 2
n (n+1)
= 2(2+1)
= 2 (3)
= 6
Factors of 6: 1, 2, 3 and 6
Our of the factors of 6, we can conclude that the answer is letter b since 3
is one of the factors of n (n+1). Thank you.
Rationalization:
99.A recipe which is good for 4 persons calls for 2/3 cup of milk.
How much milk will be needed by a recipe for 6 persons?
a. 4 cups c. 2 cups
b. 1cup d. 8cups
Rationalization
Given:
Formula
4: 2/3 = 6: x
Solution:
4 6
4: 2/3 = 6: x 2/3 = x
4 6
2/ 3
= x
4x = 6(2/3)
4x = 12/3
4x = 4
(4x = 4)1/4
x=1
Therefore, 1 cup of milk is needed by a recipe
for 6 persons.
Explanation: To answer this problem, we need to use the rule of Ratio and
Proportion. We need to let x as the number of cups of milk needed by a
recipe for 6 persons. We then convent them into ratios; 4 persons for 2/3
cup of milk will be translated as 4 is to 2/3, and we will translate the second
sentence as 6 is to x. After that, we will merge them to make a proportion,
which is (4 is to two-thirds is equal to 6 is to x). Then proceed on solving
the proportion by using the cross multiplication method. That will be 4x is
equal to 6 times two-thirds. Six times two-thirds is equal to 4. Multiply both
sides by ¼ to find the value of x. Thus, our value of x is 1. Therefore, 1 cup
of milk is needed by a recipe for 6 persons.
a. 2 + 22 + (2 + 2 ) 2 c. (2 + 2)22

Rationalization:
To find how many members in Set A are factors of any member in Set B,
we will first know the factors in each member in Set B.
Set B
Factors of 1 - 1
Factors of 2 – 1 and 2
Factors of 7 – 1 and 7
Factors of 9 – 1, 3, 9
Factors of 10 – 1, 2, 5, 10
103. A store lost P252, 000 last year. What was its average
loss per month?
a. P20,000 c. P21,500
b. P20,500 d. P2,000
Rationalization:
Explanation: To find the average lost per month of the store, we will divide
P252, 000 by 12 since there’s twelve months in one year.
Therefore it will be P252, 000 divided by 12. The quotient is Php 21,000.
In conclusion, the average lost per month of the store is Php 21,000 and
the answer is not in the options.
After reading the first sentence, we can see that the variable x is an odd
integer and the variable y is an even integer.
Given:
x- odd integer
y- even integer
And then, we need to use the Trial and Error Method to find which one from
the options have a value that is an odd integer.
B. X2 + y – 1 = 12 + 2 – 1 = 1 + 2 -1 = 2
C. X2 + 3y = 12 + 22 = 1 +4 = 5
D. x – 1 = 1 – 1 = 0
Looking at the trial and error method we have made, we can conclude that
letter C is the correct answer since the value of the equation is 5.
105. The first 5 numbers in a sequence are 5, 6, 8, 11 and 15. What are the 8 th and
10th numbers in the sequence?
a. 32 and 49 c. 27 and 42
b. 26 and 49 d. 33 and 50
SOLUTION:
In this sequence, we need to find the pattern on how this sequence arrives
since the first 5 terms are already given:
5, 6, 8, 11, 15, ___, ____, ___, ____, ___
Let us try first to subtract the consecutive terms to see the pattern between
these terms.
6-5=1 2nd term minus the first term
8-6=2 3rd term minus the second term
11-8=3 4th term minus the third term
15-11=4 5th term minus the 4th term
Hence, we can see that we just need to add the preceding counting numbers
to find the next term. In that sense, we can already get the 8 th term and 10th
term.
Therefore, the 8th term of the sequence is 33 while the 10th term of the sequence is 50. That’s
why letter d is the correct answer.
SOLUTION:
3
In this problem, we need to get first the value of of 8.
5
3
8 × =4.8
5
Hence, 4.8 is the 3/5 of 8. By that, we can now proceed to the next step which
is to find the percent of 4.8 to 4.
4.8
=1.2 ×100=120 %
4
Therefore, 120% is the correct answer.
107. What is the counting number that is less than 15 and when divided by 3 has a
remainder of 1, but when divided by 4 has remainders of 2?
a. 5 b. 12 c. 8 d. 10
SOLUTION:
The easiest way to get the unknown counting number is to list down the
possible numbers that is less than 15 and when you divide by 3 the remainder
is 1
4, 7, 10, 13
4 divided by 3 will result into a remainder of 1 and same with 7, 10 and 13
Next, list down the possible numbers that is less than 15 and when you divide
by 4 the remainder is 2
6, 10, 14
6 divided by 4 will result into a remainder of 2 and same with 10 and 14.
SOLUTION:
To find the heaviest weight, let us first convert the option to the same unit of
mass in order for us to compare the options. It’s either in kg, g, pounds, or mg.
But in this problem, let us use the conversion of mass to kg.
a. 2250g= 2.25 kg
b. 2.5 kg we don’t need to convert this since it is already in the form of kg
c. 5 pounds= 2.27 kg
d. 4200mg= 0.0042kg
SOLUTION:
To get the answer we need to factor out the binomial of x 2 – 42
As observe in the equation, the terms are both in perfect squares.
So let us use the formula of factoring binomial equation
(x−4)(x +4)
x×x=x 2
( x)(4)=4 x
(−4 ) ( x )=−4 x
(−4 ) ( 4 )=−16
2
x + 4 x−4 x−16
SOLUTION:
To get the percent, divide it first and then multiply it by 100 to get the percent.
35
=0.0625 ×100=6.25 %

111. How much interest be paid on a bank loan of P30,000 for 8 months at 12% annual
interest?
a. P3,240 c. P2,800
b. P2,400 d. P3,600
SOLUTION:
To find the value of interest, let us use the formula on getting the interest.
Interest= P×R×T
Where p is the principal amount
r is the rate
t is the time
Substitute the given:
p= 30,000
t= 8 months (annually)
Write 12% into decimal for the rate and 8/12 for the time because the payment is
done annually. The numerator is 8 while the denominator is 12 because in a year
there are 12 months.
I =P × R ×T
8
I =30,000 ×0.12 ×
12
I =30,000 ×0.08
I =2400
113. What are the odds of getting two 5’s in a single throw of a pair of dice?
a. 2/35 c. 35/36
b. 1/35 d.1/36
SOLUTION:
To find the probability of getting 5’s in a single throw of a pair of dice, we need
to multiply the probability of getting 5 in a single die to itself. But before that we
need to know the probability of getting 5 in a single die.
In a die, there are 6 faces and each number has a different number on it. So,
the probability of rolling a single die and getting 5 is 1/6 because there is one 5
in a die that’s why 1 is the numerator while the denominator is 6 because there
6 faces in a single die.
Then, we can now solve the odds of getting 5’s in a single throw of a pair of
dice.
1 1 1
× =

114. How many integers between 1 and 150 are divisible by both 4 and 5?
a. 9 b. 10 c. 8 d. 7
SOLUTION:
To get the answer, list the numbers between 1 and 150 that are divisible by
both 4 and 5.
20, 40, 60, 80,100,120,140
Therefore, there are 7 numbers that are divisible by 4 and 5.
115. The area of square is 32x. Which of the following could be the value of x?
a. 2 b. 6 c. 3 d. 4
SOLUTION:
0.888 ×0.80=0.7104
Therefore, 0.7104 is the correct answer.
117. Two buses leave the same station at 9:00 pm. One bus travels north at the
rate of 30 kph and the other travels east at 40 kph. How many kilometers apart are
the buses at 10 pm?
a. 140 km c. 70 km
b. 100 km d. 50 km
Rationalization:
There are 2 buses travel at a different direction.
-Bus A at North which travels at a rate of 30kph
-Bus B at East which travels at a rate of 40 kph
Solution:
Time 8:00 pm to 10:00pm =2 hours travel
The formula for velocity = (Distance/time), given th two velocity of the buses, we are
looking for the distance so we can derived the formula as
Distance= (velocity)(time)
Distance of Bus A= (30kph)(2hrs)=60km North
Distance of Bus B= (40kph)(2hrs)=80km East
After 2 hours the buses are 60 km and 80 km away from the starting point.
If we are going to plot this on paper we can noticed that we are creating a right
triangle, which is give the two LEGS and asked for the HYPOTENUSE

needed to find his gain?
a. The amount paid by the customer per sack
b. The amount she paid for it
c. The number of sacks sold
d. The amount she was paid
Rationalization:
The answer is letter A because it was stated in the first sentence that the
vendor sold one sack of rice more than he paid of it. This means that in order to find
the gain we need to know amount she paid for a sack of rice. Let us take for example
if she bought a sack of rice for 2500 pesos and after she sold it, she garnered Php
3,200 pesos. Therefore she gained 700 pesos. With this, we can conclude that by
finding the price of a sack of rice she paid for every sack we can calculate her gain
instantly.

121. Molting is a process whereby insects shed off their old cuticle to grow in size.
This is called ___.
a. Sclerotic peel c. Ecdysis
b. cyclosis d. Metamorphosis
Rationalization:
Ecdysis is the moulting of the cuticle in many invertebrates of the clade Ecdysozoa.
Since the cuticle of these animals typically forms a largely inelastic exoskeleton, it is
shed during growth and a new, larger covering is formed. The remnants of the old,
empty exoskeleton are called exuvia
Rationalization:
In this item, the answer is letter D because, a series circuit is one in which
there is only one pathway for the electric current to follow. The components are
arranged one after another in a single pathway. When we connect the components
we say that they are connected in series. Each charge passing through the loop of
the external circuit will pass through each resistor in consecutive fashion.
123. Blocks of asphalt roads are left with a narrow gap in-between them in order to
____.
a. Hold extra dust and small particles of sand
b. Give allowance for expansion during hot days
c. Serve as passage of water during rainy days
d. Make roads with equal blocks and gaps
Rationalization:
All asphalt is susceptible to cracks forming through through changes in
moisture retention and temperature changes. Asphalt like other material, it expands
its volume when temperature increases during hot days. During hot days it increases
the temperature that would damage the pavement. It can cause any moisture to dry
up, making it brittle. This leads to developing cracks due to regular traffic, both
vehicular and pedestrian. So, they need small space to avoid any crack.
124. Which of these use the principle that pressure is transmitted equally in all
directions in a liquid?
a. Hydraulic devices
b. Fluid –operated crane
c. Stoppered devices
d. Buoyed appliances
Rationalization:
A hydraulic device is a device that uses liquids to transmit pressure equally
from one point to another. They consist of a column of confined fluyid with a piston at
each end. It uses a incompressible fluid, such as oil or water, to transmit forces from
one location to another within the fluid.
125. Which of the following environmental conditions has been blamed for the
usual occurred of “fish kills”?
a. Acid rain c. Atmospheric pollution
b. Eutrophication d. Sitting of lakes
Rationalization:
Harmful algal blooms, dead zones, and fish kills are the results of a process
called eutrophication which occurs when the environment becomes enriched
with nutrients, increasing the amount of plant and algae growth
to estuaries and coastal waters.
Hypoxia, considered to be the most severe symptom of eutrophication.
Hypoxia occurs when algae and other organisms die, sink to the bottom, and
are decomposed by bacteria, using the available dissolved oxygen. Salinity
and temperature differences between surface and subsurface waters lead to
stratification, limiting oxygen replenishment from surface waters and creating
conditions that can lead to the formation of a hypoxic or “dead” zone. The
formatioin of dead zones can lead to fish kills
Acid rain - Acid rain, or acid deposition, is a broad term that includes any form
of precipitation with acidic components, such as sulfuric or nitric acid that fall
to the ground from the atmosphere in wet or dry forms. This can include rain,
snow, fog, hail or even dust that is acidic.
126. Why are doorknobs placed at the edge of a door than in the center?
a. To increase the lever arm
b. It is closer to the edge of the doorway
c. To help give more momentum to the door
d. To increase the force on the door
Rationalization:
Putting the knob as far away from the hinges as the width of the door allows for a
better lever arm, and therefore opening the door requires less force. This makes it
more convenient to open the door with minimal amount of force applied.
127. What part of the brain acts as the center of our emotions?
a. Cerebrum c. Cerebellum
b. Thalamus d. Medulla
Rationalization:
a. Cerebrum itself contains the major lobes of the brain and is responsible for
receiving and giving meaning to information from the sense organs, as well as
controlling the body. It initiates and coordinates movement and regulates
temperature.
b. The thalamus is part of the limbic system. It consists of two lobes of grey
matter along the bottom of the cerebral cortex. Because nearly all senory
information passes through the thalamus it is considered the sensory “ way
station” of the brain, passing information on the cerebral cortex. Lesions of, or
stimulation to , the thalamus are associated with changes in emotional
reactivity. However, the importance of this structure on the regulation of
emotional behavior is not due to the activity of the thalamus itself, but to the
connections between the thalamus and other limbic structures.
c. The cerebellum, or “little brain”, is similar to the cerebrum with its two
hemispheres and highly folded surface. It is associated with regulation and
coordination of movement, posture, balance and cardiac, respiratory and
vasomotor center. People who have damage to the cerebellum have difficulty
walking, keeping their balance, and holding their hands steady.
d. The primary role of the medulla is regulating our involuntary life sustaining
functions such as breathing, swallowing and heart rate. As part of the brain
stem, it also helps transfer neural messages to and from the brain and spinal
cord. It is located at the junction of the spinal cord and brain.
As what I have researched, It should be limbic system since this is the center of our
emotions. The limbic system is a group of interconnected structures located deep
within the brain. It’s the part of the brain that’s responsible for behavioral and
emotional responses.
128. What is the technology being used now in the surgery of the retina?
a. X-ray c. Optical ray
b. Laser d. CT scan
Rationalization:
The surgeon directs a laser beam into the eye through the pupil. The laser makes
burns around the retinal tear, creating scarring that usually "welds" the retina to
underlying tissue.
With this treatment, your doctor will shine a medical laser inside your eye and make small
burns around the tear or hole in your retina. The burns create small scars that fix the tear
and help hold your retina in place.
You may see a flashing light when your doctor uses the laser. After this treatment, your
doctor may give you special eye drops to help keep your eye from swelling. You may need
to avoid some activities, like vigorous exercise or heavy lifting, while your eye heals.
---X-rays are types of electromagnetic radiation probably most well-known for their ability to
see through a person's skin and reveal images of the bones beneath it.
----Optical rays are the single line or narrow beam of light from a small or distant source.
Rays are used to model the propagation of light through an optical system, by dividing the
real light field up into discrete rays that can be computationally propagated through the
system by the techniques of ray tracing.
So, option A, C and D are not the answer since the question is referring to the surgery of the
retina.
129. What is the reason why a pressure cooker cooks food faster?
I. Water boils faster
II. It raises the boiling point of water
III. It raises the cooking temperature of food.
IV. It is tightly closed
a. II and III c. I, II an d IV
b. I, II and III d. II and IV
EXPLANATION. I, II, IV
c. Principle utilized in pressure cooker is that boiling point of water increases with
increase in pressure. Because of increase in boiling point heat provided to
cooker is utilized to increase its temperature rather than converting its
state(latent heat) - water to steam. Pressure cooker has a confined space sealed
from all side (except valve which is used to release excess pressure). when heat
is supplied to the cooker it first increases the temperature of water. when the
water reaches 100 degree Celsius ( water's boiling point at atmospheric
pressure) some of it starts converting to steam and starts filing the confined
pressure cooker space.
and also because the hot air and steam are trapped, a pressure cooker allows
you to heat the moisture – steam and water.
The best correct answer is letter b because as what we have observed in our society
that most of the people are using vehicles in their daily living and it increases the
chanceo of vehicle exhaust. In preventing air pollutants is Keep your vehicle well-
tuned and tires inflated properly to reduce exhaust emissions. Combine errands into
one trip — cars pollute less when they are warmed up. Avoid idling — idling exhaust
contains more pollutants than running exhaust.
d. Freon is not only used in air conditioning units, but it has also been
used in upright and chest freezers. On top of those, there are a large
number of commercial and industrial appliances that use Freon in both
food transportation and cold storage warehouses.
131. What nutrients can be absorbed in our body without undergoing digestion?
a. Carbohydrates c. Proteins
b. Fats d. Vitamins
Carbohydrates - Almost all of the carbohydrates, except for dietary fiber and resistant starches, are
efficiently digested and absorbed into the body. Carbohydrates are hydrophilic and require a series of
reactions to digest them to monosaccharides which are absorbed in the small intestine.
Fats - Fat takes longer to digest than other foods, and the amount of time varies based on the type of
fat
Proteins - our body can't absorb proteins in their natural state. Certain proteases in our stomach and
pancreas break the bonds that hold the amino acids in protein together so our body can absorb the
composite amino acids individually. Being unable to break protein into amino acids and absorb protein,
will make you have poor gut health, which ultimately leads to numerous digestion issues.
Vitamins - Although they naturally exist in association with various foods and may be carried through
your gastrointestinal system as your foods undergo digestion, they are small enough for your small
intestine to absorb without digestion. Vitamins are classified as either water-soluble or fat-soluble,
depending on their ability to mix with water. Special proteins in the cells of your small intestine bind to
water-soluble vitamins for absorption, while fat-soluble vitamins absorb into your intestinal cells along
with digested fat molecules.
133.The escape mechanism by which the mudfish and the catfish change from a darker color to a
lighter one depending on the color of the water is called _______.
a. Protective mimicry
b. Adaptive coloration
c. Habitat protection
d. Aggressive coloration
A.Protective mimicry, when a species benefits from reduced predation
by mimicking another unprofitable species. Example, In this form of
mimicry, a deadly prey mimics the warning signs of a less dangerous
species. A good example involves the milk, coral, and false coral
snakes.
b.Is the correct answer because It is bright and contrast coloration, which is
easy-to-see from afar. It is intended for the predator to remember the
appearance of the dangerous prey better and prevent the predator from
approaching it the next time. The color of an organism is a structural
adaptation that helps it survive. In nature, plants and animals use color and
patterns in different ways.
D. Aggressive coloration • The animals develop color pattern to threaten or frighten other
animals. • Example,Eyed hawk moth uses the eye spots to threaten the predators.
134.Which group of organisms cause “red tide”?
a. Bacteria c. Algae
b. Dinoflagellates d. Jellyfishes
c. The correct answer is C.
Red tides are caused by algae, which are tiny, microscopic organisms that grow in the
water. In fact, the water changes color in a red tide because the population of algae living
in the water becomes so dense. Red tides have been around since long before humans.
A. Bacteria are small single-celled organisms. Bacteria are found almost everywhere on
Earth and are vital to the planet's ecosystems.
B. Dinoflagellates are monophyletic group of single-celled eukaryotes constituting the
phylum Dinoflagellata and usually considered algae. Red tides are conditions when a
dinoflagellate population increases to such huge numbers that it discolors the water.
However, it is not an organism.
C. Algae are sometimes considered plants and sometimes considered "protists" (a grab-
bag category of generally distantly related organisms that are grouped on the basis of not
being animals, plants, fungi, bacteria, or archaeans.
D. Jellyfishes do not contribute on the red tide.
135. Ecologist associate the relation between climate and vegetation and animal life with the
term ___.
a. Biosphere c. Population
b. Habitat d. Biome
A. biosphere is made up of the parts of Earth where life exists. The biosphere extends
from the deepest root systems of trees, to the dark environment of ocean trenches, to
lush rain forests and high mountaintops. The Earth's water—on the surface, in the
ground, and in the air—makes up the hydrosphere.
B. In ecology, the term habitat summarizes the array of resources, physical and biotic
factors that are present in an area, such as to support the survival and reproduction of a
particular species.
D. A biome is a large area characterized by its vegetation, soil, climate, and wildlife.
136. Patients suffering from defective kidneys are now assisted by a machine called ______.
a. Hemodialzer c. Hemoscope
b. Nephros machine d. Nephridium scanner
The correct answer is HEMODIALYSIS MACHINE / DIALYSIS MACHIN
Hemodialysis machine houses a computer, a pump, a dialyzer or filter, and
dialysate or dialysis solution. The machine's computer monitors blood flow, blood
pressure, and how much fluid is removed from your body during your treatment
Hemodialzer device that allows a transfer of water and solutes between the blood and the
dialysate through a semipermeable membrane.
Nephros machine are used in hospitals and medical clinics for added protection in retaining
bacteria (e.g., Legionella, Pseudomonas) and viruses from water, providing barriers that assist
in improving infection control in showers, sinks, and ice machines.
Haemoscope An instrument devised by Hermann, for regulating and measuring the thickness of
a layer of blood for spectroscopic examination.
Nephridium scanner is a unit of the excretory system in many primitive invertebrates and also in
the amphioxus; it expels wastes from the body cavity to the (usually aquatic) exterior
A decomposer in science is “an organism that feeds on and breaks down dead animal
or plant matter” and breaks down the waste of other organisms . This process helps provide
organic nutrients for the ecosystem where it lives
Producers are any kind of green plant. Green plants make their food by taking sunlight and
using the energy to make sugar. Some examples of producers in the food chain include green
plants, small shrubs, fruit, phytoplankton, and algae.
The correct answer is letter D because Heterotrophs are known as consumers because they
consume producers or other consumers. Heterotrophs cannot make their own food, so they
must eat or absorb it. For this reason, heterotrophs are also known as consumer
138. Which is an aggregate fruit that originates from a cluster of matured ovaries?
a. Strawberry c. Pea
b. Pineapple d. Guava
Strawberry is the right answer because an aggregate fruit is a cluster of several
to many ripened ovaries produced by a single flower and borne on the same
receptacle. The individual, ripened ovaries may be drupes (as in raspberries and
blackberries), achiness (as in buttercups), and so forth.
strawberry is called an accessory fruit because the fleshy pulp is derived from the
receptacle of the flower. It is also an aggregate fruit because it consists of numerous
small achenes that developed from an apocarpous gynoecium. The strawberry is also
termed an aggregate fruit because it is formed from many separate carpels of a single
flower. Other aggregate fruits are raspberry and blackberry. Some people mistakenly
refer to strawberries as a multiple fruit.
Pea is considered an aggregate fruit because they arise from a single flower that
consists of many ovaries.
Carbon dioxide during photosynthesis, plants take in carbon dioxide (CO2) and water
(H2O) from the air and soil. Within the plant cell, the water is oxidized, meaning it loses
electrons, while the carbon dioxide is reduced, meaning it gains electrons. This
transforms the water into oxygen and the carbon dioxide into glucose. Plants use a
process called photosynthesis to make food. During photosynthesis, plants trap light
energy with their leaves. Plants use the energy of the sun to change water and carbon
dioxide into a sugar called glucose. Glucose is used by plants for energy and to make
other substances like cellulose and starch.
Hydrogen along with carbon and oxygen, are the three primary elements plants use in
the largest amounts, and they perform as the building blocks for plant growth. ...
Hydrogen ions are vital in both aiding proton gradients to help drive the electron
transport chain in photosynthesis, and for plant respiration.
Oxygen, According to National Geographic, about 70% of the oxygen in the atmosphere
comes from marine plants and plant-like organisms.
140. Many amphibians may lose a part of their body such as a leg or tail. They have
the ability to grow a lost part. This ability is known as__________.
a. Rejuvenation c. Regeneration
b. Reproduction d. Resuscitation
a.Rejuvenation is a process that not only delays aging but actually
reverts it, leading to a younger cell, tissue, or body. Rejuvenation would
erase age-accumulated damage and aging hallmarks collected during
one's life.
b. Reproduction is the production of offspring. There are two main
forms: sexual and asexual reproduction. In sexual reproduction, an
organism combines the genetic information from each of its parents and is
genetically unique.
c.Is the correct answer because Regeneration is the natural process of
replacing or restoring damaged or missing cells, tissues, organs,
and even entire body parts to full function in plants and animals.
d.Resuscitation is a lifesaving technique that's useful in many emergencies,
such as a heart attack or near drowning, in which someone's breathing or
heartbeat has stopped
141. Antoine H. Bacquerel defined this phenomenon as the spontaneous disintegration of the
nucleus of an atom. Which is this phenomenon?
142. Which biogas is obtained from biological wastes such as animal manure?
a. Ethylene - Ethylene is a hydrocarbon which has the formula C2H4 or H 2 C=CH 2 . It is
a colorless flammable gas with a faint "sweet and musky" odor when pure. Ethylene is a
group of plant growth regulators which are widely used for ripening fruits and for the
production of more flowers and fruits.
b. Methane - Methane (a gas composed of carbon and hydrogen) is produced two ways:
Through biologic decomposition of organic matter at shallow depths.
c. Ester - A compound or functional group derived from alcohol condensation and an acid
with simultaneous water loss.
d. Alcogas - fuel blends of alcohol and gasoline or diesel.
c. Cannot be determined
d. The one on earth
The equations Force = Mass * Acceleration can be used to solve this problem
Using 9.8 m/s^2 for earth’s acceleration of gravity and 1.6 m/s^2 for the moon, the
equation can be used to solve for the mass, given the force in Newtons.
147. When molecules of ink turn a glassful of water into blue, what process has
occurred?
a. Absorption - Absorption is a separate mechanism from adsorption because molecules
undergoing absorption are soaked up by the length, not by the air.
b. Osmosis - osmosis is the movement of any solvent through a selectively permeable
membrane into an area of higher solute concentration, the result of which will be an
equalizing of solute concentration on either side of the membrane..
c. Diffusion - Diffusion occurs in all states of matter: solid, liquid, and gas. It occurs
rapidly enough to be observable in a reasonable period of time, however, only in liquids
and gases. Diffusion is the movement of a substance from an area of high concentration
to an area of lower concentration. It occurs in liquids and gases when
their particles collide randomly and spread out.
d. Solution - A solution is a mixture formed when a solid, liquid or gaseous substance is
homogeneously mixed with a liquid.
149. Which chemical substance/s are contained in detergents which causes/s the foam in
stream water?
Alkyl benzene sulfonate (ABS) refers to a family of branched chain organic chemical compounds
that were used as detergents. They are regarded as "hard" detergents due to their resistance to
biological degradation. These compounds have been widely replaced by linear alkyl sulfonate
(LAS), which is environmentally friendly and easily biodegrades to simpler substances. Alkyl
benzene sulfonate caused persistent foam in sewage treatment plants, streams and rivers and
created environmental problems.
150. What happens to the speed of a light ray as it passes from water to air?
a. Increase
b. Remains the same
c. Decreases
d. Increases then decreases
This item talks about the idea of Refraction of light. Based from what I have read in the internet
Based on the Refractive index of some transparent substances, air has 1.00 refractive
index and water has 1.33
Now, It was stated that If light travels enters into a substance with a lower refractive
index (such as from water into air) it speeds up. And If light enters any substance with a
higher refractive index (such as from air into glass) it slows down. The light bends
towards the normal line.
According to the question from water to air, since the light ray passes from water to the
air which has a lower refractive index, we can conclude that that it speeds up, or the
speed increases.
