HCI Cluster Deployment - Project Plan

This project plan outlines the milestones, tasks, roles, and deliverables for deploying an HCI cluster. There are three milestones: predelivery, delivery of the HCI cluster deployment, and postdelivery. The delivery milestone includes tasks to rack and connect hardware, set up the Nutanix cluster, configure VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V, and install AHV. The postdelivery milestone focuses on testing and knowledge transfer. Comments provide additional details and links to documentation for certain tasks.

Take time to edit and customize this project plan, particularly

if you're doing this for the first time or the deployment is
large (multiple sites and blocks).

Before you head out, have one last call to confirm with the
client that everything is ready. You can use the final checklist
in the predelivery questionnaire.
Use the Visio templates.

If you don't know how to use Foundation, read this:

Keep the name simple. We suggest either sp1 or <cluster

name>-sp1.
A single container should be enough most of the time. Again,
keep the name simple: <clustername>-c1.

If you want to base protection domains and consistency

groups on vCenter folder structure, you can use the script in
the scripts directory.
Have the customer create an account with their email and
register the purchase.
We recommend that you deploy using the appliance, in
which case this step is optional.

Only required for pre-2008 templates (if applicable).

Use the script in the scripts directory. See the TSD

operational section for links by hypervisor.

Use the documented test plan.
