Introduction

Teacher home visit programs are utilized by many school system as a way to create
bonds with parents to increase in-school parent participation and, most likely, increases
student achievement. The biggest benefit of home visits was a better understanding of the
child’s learning in the classroom. The teacher’s home visit program enables students to
realize that they have a network of support. A home visit is an approach to connect the gap
between school and home for learners, families and teachers. A growing volume of research
points to the significance of parents assisting their children’s learning at home. A home visit
is another way to expand the partnership among teachers and parents and increase the
students’ chances for achievement.

Also, home visitation programs are designed and implemented to support families in
providing an environment that promotes the healthy growth and development. Programs
target their services to families and caregivers in order to improve child development,
enhance pupils academic achievement and promote positive parent-child interactions.
Although programs differ in their approach, populations served and intended outcomes, high-
quality home visiting programs can provide child development and family support services
that reduce risk and increase protective factors. (Kelly et.al ,2022)
In line with this, (Kelly et.al ,2022) stated that home visiting programs addressing Pupils
Academic Achievement are most effective when delivered at the community level, through a
comprehensive early childhood system that includes the supports and services the ensure a
continuum of care for all family members across the early years. School Academic
Achievement includes the General Average of the individual child grades from First grading
until Second grading period, the school’s home visitation program provides supports
children, and the ability of the family and community involvement to support early child
development, health and wellbeing.
In addition to home visiting services, appropriate referrals to community services,
including to preschool programs, offer a low-cost universal approach that increases the
chances of early school success. This comprehensive approach to home visiting as a part of
broad early childhood system has been identified as an effective strategy to help close the gap
in pupils’ academic achievement and child well-being associated with poverty and early
childhood adversity. In this study, the researchers focused on the effects of home visitation on
the academic achievement of Grade 3 pupils in Mahalang Elementary School.

Chapter 2: Methodology

Research Design
This study will use descriptive correlational method. Correlation research is
conducted to establish a relationship between two variables. Moreover, it examines how one
variable affects the other and what changes are eventually observe. In this research methods
relationship among two or more variables are studied without attempting to influence them.
Instead, the possibility of relationships between/ among the identified variables are only
investigated but manipulated(Ramos, Sabit, and Bajao,2017).
For the quantitative aspect of gathering data in this study, the researchers will use
self-made questionnaire based on the effects of home visitation program on the pupils
academic achievement.

Participants of the Study

The participants of the study were the randomly selected 30 Pupils enrolled in Grade 3 class
in the 1st and 2nd Grading of A.Y 2021-2022 serves as our respondents.

Research Locale
This study will be conducted at the Mahalang Elementary School, which is located at
Proper, Barangay Mahalang, Himamaylan City. The campus has an area of approximately 3
hectares and is situated 4.1 kilometers away of the northern part of the city proper.

Research Instrument
For the quantitative aspect of gathering data in this study, the researchers will use
self-made questionnaire based on the effects of home visitation program on the pupils
academic achievement.

Validity and Reliability

Validity
-referring to the appropriateness, correctness, meaningfulness and usefulness of the specific
influences researchers make based on the data they collect. (Google)
Reliability
-The degree to which research method produces stable and consistent result. (Google)

No need to conduct validity and reliability because we use secondary data.

Data Gathering Procedure

In gathering the data, the following procedures will be observed:

First the researchers will send a letter to the Teacher In-charge, registrar teacher, and
participants of the Mahalang Elementary School asking permission to conduct the study.
Second, the researchers will have the research instrument evaluated for validity in
have it pilot tested for to determine its reliability.
Lastly, the researchers will reproduce the necessary number of copies for the final
administration. These will then be conducted to the Grade 3 pupils enrolled at Mahalang
Elementary School during the first and second grading of A.Y 2021-2022. Results will be
analyzed and interpreted after the final administration of the instruments.

Data Analysis
This data is analyzing the relevant gather information regarding Home Visitation Program.
The researcher describe the results of home visitation program and identity the relationship
between student characteristics and their academic achievement.
