1) Five current transformers are required for a bus sectionalizer breaker with the following purposes and specifications: metering, differential protection for 3 phases, and overall protection.
2) The minimum voltage for correct operation (Vk) is calculated to be 1816 volts based on a short circuit current of 50kA, CT dimensioning factor of 2, and lead resistance of 6mm2 copper cable.
3) The CTs must have a maximum resistance of 12 ohms at 75°C and a maximum leakage current of 20mA to limit errors in protection and metering.

Calculation for selecting Vk
If = Short circuit thermal current and its duration- 50KA for 3 secs Rl = Lead resistance= selecting 6 Sqmm copper cable= Maximum DC resistance per Km= 3.08 Ohms/Km Vk= K*If [Rct+(2*Rl)] Where K is CT dimensioning factor i.e., selected as 2 Vk = 2 X 50 [12+(2 X 3.08)] Vk = 1816 volts Leakage current shall be limted to 20mA
* CT's shall be at both side limbs of bushings and same for all R,Y,B phases.
