I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, 95 % of the grade 4 students should be able to;
a. add similar fractions accurately
b. enumerate the steps in adding similar fractions; and
c. solve word problems involving addition of similar fractions.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:


Topic: Addition of Similar fractions
Reference: The New Mathematics Adventure 6 by Francisco B. Tabifranca Jr.
Materials: Laptop, books, visual aids, pictures, tapes

III. PROCEDURE
A. Routine Activity
 Greetings
 Prayer
 Cleanliness
 Checking of Attendance

B. Motivation
I will play a song “Do you wanna add some fractions?” with the tune of “Do you wanna build a
snowman” in the Frozen Movie.

C. Presentation
The teacher will present a topic and an example.

Maine jogs regularly. She jogged 1/6 km


then she saw a friend. She jogged another
2/6 km then she stopped for a while. How
many kilometers have she jogged?

D. Discussion
Teacher will discuss how to add similar fractions using the example word problems.
Also, in adding similar fractions, we have enumerate these steps to be followed.

1. Add the numerators


1 + 2 = 3
6 6 6
2. Copy the same denominator
1 + 2 = 3
6 6 6
