Question 1

Read this email from your English-speaking friend Mark and the notes you have made.

Write your answer in about 100 words.

From: Mark
Subject: My party

Hi,

I hope you’re also doing well! I really enjoyed hearing from you and finding out that everything
is in order with you!

Since you’re coming with the train, I can pick you up from the train station and bring you to my
place. From my point of view this would be the best choice.

After your train arrived I’ll pick you up and if you want you can help me settle few things
regarding the party. That would be a great help for me.

Yes, it would be wonderful if you could bring a cake or some biscuits but since you’re coming
with train I would be easier for you if you’d bring biscuits.

I can’t wait to meet you finally. As soon as you know when your train arrives at the train station
let me know.

Take care!

Part 2 of the Preliminary English Test Writing Paper contains two questions. You have to answer
one of them in about 100 words

Question 2 Article

You see this notice on an English Language website:

Food

What kind of food do you enjoy eating? Do you prefer eating at home or in a restaurant? Why?

Write an article answering these questions and we will put it on our website.

Well, I enjoy fast food but homemade is equally important for me.

If I had to choose between these two, I would pick homemade food. On the one hand because it’s
healthier, fresher made and it’s delicious and on the other hand fast food helps you gain weight
and damages people’s organism.

I prefer eating at home, because you can make any food that you want, and since you are making
it, it doesn’t feel so long till it’s done like in a restaurant. If I make my food, I can add as much
seasoning as I just want or I can make it the way I like it.
Question 3 Story

Your English teacher has asked you to write a story. Your story must begin with this sentence:

“When I got on the train I found a seat and sat down.”

Write your story

When I got on the train I found a seat and sat down. When the train stopped at the next station an
old lady sat down next to me. I didn’t understand why did she choose to occupy the seat next to
me since there were a lot of empty ones. As we travelled the lady started asking questions from
me and to be polite I asked her back. I found out that she has a grandson of my age and I looked
a lot like him so this is the reason why she choose the seat next to me. When we reached the
destination we said goodbye to each other and if I think back, I am glad about her choice.
