Electromagnetic Radiation and Health - Adishree
Topic Statement
Data Sources
The data collected by us was mainly from various authenticated websites and
research articles. I had first taken help of internet to get a brief idea about
Electromagnetic Radiation and its increasing importance as we are becoming more
digitally dependent humans. The topic was then divided into parts so that the work is
divided between the team members and complete information of each aspect can be
gathered.Later, after my sub topic allotment I had gone through various International
and National Organisation data as I believe that they are most authentic sources and
couple of videos to exactly know my topic.
The topic of Electromagnetic Radiation and Health was divided into sub-topics
mainly being the Causes, Effects, Uses, Daily-Life examples, Types and Precaution
to be taken. My part was to research on the uses, examples and precautions for the
same. As mentioned, Electromagnetic Radiation has become an significantly
important aspect of our life since our day-to-day activities cannot be completed
without using it. There are different examples and sources through which these
radiation function. Although with this increased use it is important to understand that
some precautions should be taken so that the benefits can be availed without
compromising on anyone’s health. Lastly, I got to learn a lot about it that I otherwise
wouldn’t have. This project helped me learn and understand certain aspects that I
should be aware of. Lastly, with my view on the overall topic I would like to say that
the intensity of electromagnetic radiation in the human environment is increasing and
currently reaches astronomical levels that had never before experienced on our
planet. The most influential process of EMF impact on living organisms is its direct
tissue penetration. On May 31, 2011--International Agency for Research on Cancer
(IARC)--Agenda of World Health Organization (WHO) has classified radio
electromagnetic fields, to a category 2B as potentially carcinogenic. Hence, EMR is
being researched extensively by various National and International Organization to
study various aspects related to it in order to effectively and efficiently use its
benefits but at the same time be aware of negative impacts and minimize it with new
technologies and innovations.
Bibliography
In this article, the authors Özdemir Feyyaz and Kargi Aysegül study the whole
concept of electromagnetic radiation, types and their effects. It shows in depth
analysis of electromagnetic radiation on human health.
This article from the WHO talks about the existence of electromagnetic fields,
their health effects. It also focuses on the current research being conducted
on electromagnetic radiation and its effects. It also tells us about the current
safety standards and precautions to be taken.

This article highlights how different species in the environment like birds,
amphibians, plants, etc. It talks about the different diseases caused by
electromagnetic radiation and how it affects human life.
