7. Find the ratio of

(a) 18 m to 45 cm
Ans: Let’s convert both lengths into same unit
1m  100 cm
 18 m  18 100

18m to 45cm = 1800 40 40 :145 1

(b) 20 days to 45 hours

Ans: First convert both time into same units
1 day = 24 hours

20 days = 20  24
= 480 hours

20 days : 48 hours = 480 : 48

= 10 : 1

8. In a city, 35% of population are males and 25% are females and remaining
are children. What is the percentage of children in the city?
Ans: The total percentage = 100

% of males = 35%

% of females = 25%

Class VII Maths www.vedantu.com 3

Also, Total % = % of (Females  males  children)

 % of children = Total %  % of females  % of males

ratio 1:3:6. Then how much money will each get and what will be the
percentages.

Ans: Total Amount = Rs. 500

Given, Rs. 500 has to be divided among Mishala, Manvita and Meera in the ratio
1 : 3 : 6.

Let common ratio be x

Mishala’s share = x

Manvita’s share = 3x

Meera’s share = 6x

According to question

19. Find the amount to be paid at the end of 4 years at each case

(a) Principal = Rs. 1500 at 8% PA

Ans: Given,

P  1500, R  8% PA , T  4 years

We know, Amount = principal + interest

Principal ×Rate × Time

And, Interest =
