Technology Integration Evaluation

This document presents the results of a survey evaluating technology integration among students at Cebu Technological University- Danao Campus. 38 students across various departments completed the survey, which included 10 questions about using various digital tools for classroom activities rated on a scale of 1 to 4. The results showed high levels of proficiency across most technology uses, with over 50% of students rating their skills as "very good" in areas like using digital tools for discussion, Google Forms for assessments, and blogs/vlogs. Overall, the data analysis finds that students are well-versed in incorporating common educational technologies into their learning.

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

To have a better knowledge of how to incorporate technology into the teaching and learning
process, the survey data is presented, evaluated, and interpreted. After that, the results are
generated, correlated, and presented with interpretation.

There are 38 respondents who answered the survey from the different departments of Cebu

ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA
Technology-based learning is gaining prominence in today's classrooms.
Teachers put a lot of effort into integrating technology into their daily lessons because of
the rapidly evolving technological landscape so that students' interests can be linked to
their learning. Education is heavily reliant on technology. The purpose of the survey was
to understand the effect of technology in the classroom is advantage or disadvantage to
the students.

According to Zhang & Aikman (2007), Information and communications
technology is an important part of most organizations these days. Computers began to
be used in schools in the early 1980s, and several scholars suggested that ICT will be
an important part of education for the next generation (Bransford Brown, &Cocking,
2000; Grimus, 2000; Yelland, 2001). Many methods have been implemented inside the
classroom to deliver every report and presentation with the use of technology. And with
this, it helps every student’s job a lot easier. Due to ICTs importance in society as well
as in the future of education, identifying the possible challenges to integrating these
technologies in schools would be an important step in improving the quality of teaching
and learning.

According to Thuan (2018) Wiemken et. al. (2018), Assessment is very important
in ELT (English Language Teaching). It is their aim to obtain useful data to improve the
quality of learning. A profound reality shows that without any assessment, the process
of learning will be pointless (Sari et. al 2020). Studies show that assessment plays a
central role in the learning process. In other words, it bridges the teaching and learning
processes.

In the digital age, state-of-the-art technology serves as a productive platform for
academic purposes. Impressively, digitization has successfully revolutionized the
learning process. Blogging is one of the newer tools used in education. Etymologically,
“blog” is blended term for “web” and “log” (Armstrong & Retterer 2008.With this

However, video clips can be
an excellent tool for helping students learn the material more deeply. It's crucial to be
conscientious of how frequently and extensively we use video—it's important to have a
specific reason for using that movie, documentary, or news clip in the teaching
environment. When presenting pupils to new knowledge, concepts, and abilities,
teachers always strive to show rather than explain. Pauline Gibbons, a researcher in
education, explains that amplifying the curriculum entails finding as many methods as
possible to make important knowledge understandable rather than attempting to just
simplify it.

demonstrate appropriate and
respectful behavior when using
information technologies. Immensely, we are able to use technology because of the
modernization.
In fact, Dr. Mike Ribble, author of Digital Citizenship in Schools and The
International Society for Technology (ISTE) highlight the following 9 key elements while
learning about connecting and interacting through digital means. Digital citizenship can
be defined as the norms of appropriate and responsible behavior with regard to
technology use. According to the study of Mickee Allen, Alvernia University (2019),
technology has an impact on how people communicate, learn, and think. It benefits
society and impacts how people relate to one another on a regular basis.
Today's civilization is significantly influenced by technology. It affects people's
daily lives and has both positive and harmful consequences on the planet. Modern
times are characterized by frequent technical advancements. Examples include the
internet and mobile phones. Though, there is a drawback to technical advancements.
It is revealed in the result that

According to School of Education Online Program, June 25, 2020, a significant
and important part of young children's professional development is played by computer
instruction in schools. Digital learning tools used effectively in the classroom can boost
student engagement, assist teachers in creating better lesson plans, and promote
individualized instruction. Additionally, it aids pupils in developing crucial 21st-century
abilities. Virtual learning environments, video, augmented reality (AR), robots, and other
technological tools can not only make classes more engaging but also more inclusive
learning environments that encourage collaboration and inquisitiveness as well as give
teachers the ability to gather data on student performance.
However, it's crucial to

respondents all throughout. Where
71% voted 'Very Good' that they
demonstrate knowledge of ethical issues relating to the use of technology, while 26%
voted 'Good', 2.63% voted 'Fair' and no one voted for 'Poor'. This interpreted that
majority of the respondents shows great knowledge of ethical issues relating to the use
if technology. Therefore, upon using technology most especially in education basis,
ethical examination should be taken for consideration because it will determine and
justify the good acts that derive from them. Being technologically literate, ethical
knowledge and acts takes place in global environment where people, values and mostly
technology converge.
According to the study by Olcott Jr. D., Carrera Farran, X., Gallardo Echenique,
E. E., & González Martínez, J. (2015) entitled “Ethics and Education in the Digital Age:
Global Perspectives and Strategies for Local Transformation in Catalonia” that it is
people who are agents of technology in any of their guises, who display behaviors that
are either exemplary and exemplifying or reprehensible, irresponsible or illicit.
Additionally, according to Jonas (1995) that regardless of the field or specialty,
responsibility should be the guiding principle of technological actions. Every user should
modulate their use of technology by taking into account that, personal responsibility
goes beyond formal and legal responsibility and is linked to other values and moral
principles, and everyone are responsible for their actions and the consequences behind
it. Lastly, before acting, everyone should always anticipate and predict the effects of
their actions.

71% shown in the results that majority
voted 'Very Good' which translated
that they use technology in assessing information. It is indeed widely seen that the role
of technology is very essential upon accessing or even assessing information in today's
modernized and globalized world.
Technology Literacy is one of the skills that the learners and educators must
have in this 21st century, most especially in the field of education. In fact, according to
the study of Dei, De-Graft Johnson (2018) entitled "Assessing the Use of Information
and Communication Technology in Teaching and Learning in Secondary Schools" that
the development of Information Communication Technology itself implies that the best
way for teachers and students to adjust to modern society and the global economy, the
way in which teachers teach and students what to be taught requires modifications to
and around ICT (Watson, 2001). Thus, the teacher using technology in the global
classroom will be able to present a well-planned set of lessons and the students will
experience these lessons in an entertaining environment.
It was purely seen in the

collaboration and learning.
Technology in 21st century learning become more relevant and widely used to
enhance and develop learning process. Now, it is also used as collaborating tools to
further expound the access of information. According to the study of Laura A. Schindler,
Gary J. Burkholder, Craig Marsh, et al (2017) entitled "Computer-based technology and
student engagement: a critical review of the literature" that one of the commonalities is
that most of the technologies are designed primarily to promote interaction and
collaboration with others. Technology really fosters sharing of knowledge and integrates
people across the globe much closer ever since.
In conclusion, both positive and negative effects of technology have given the
students advantages and disadvantages in classrooms. Base on the survey that we
have conducted, technology have significantly altered the teaching and learning process
and it made the students life way easier. They also emphasized the fact that technology
is used for a wide range of functions and objectives. Although it is a useful tool, there
are things that go against their philosophy. For instance, diversions and reliance on
technology rather than one's own skills and knowledge. It's fantastic to be hopeful and
believe in the further advancement of technology, but it's equally important to remember
the negative effects of technology in education and how it might eventually harm
children.
