Procrastination is the intentional delay of tasks that need to be completed despite knowing there will be negative consequences. People often procrastinate difficult, boring, or stressful tasks by avoiding them. Chronic procrastination has been linked to low self-esteem, depression, and anxiety. The author discusses their personal struggles with procrastinating on schoolwork by getting distracted by phones, social media, YouTube, eating, and other immediately gratifying activities. This leads to a waste of free time and prevents enjoying fun activities with others. consequences. We procrastinate on hard, boring or stressful tasks because it is often easy to just simply
avoid them. Be aware that chronic procrastination has been linked to low self esteem, depression, anxiety

HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED PROCRASTINATION? (raise your hands)

DOES ANYONE EXPERIENCE IT ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS?

Personally procrastination takes a big chunk of my life. It affects me most when I try to do schoolwork,
but get distracted by my phone, by social media, by YouTube, by listening to music, by eating, and I
always make sure that I choose activities that can be immediately paused once the realization that I
actually have no time left hits . This leads me to wasting most of my free time on meaningless actions
with no results and also stops me from actually enjoying fun activities like going out with my friends or
watching a movie.

But thankfully procrastination is not a lifelong trait. Those who procrastinate can find different methods
and strategies to help focus and avoid impulses.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY METHODS OF THEIR OWN THAT THEY USE TO COMBAT
PROCRASTINATION?

{That is a nice strategy. Here are some that I propose.}

[ That is ok, procrastination is inherently hard to solve because of the real posibility of procrastination
while trying to improve. I have some suggestions of how you can start to save yourself from this problem.
]

Such as:

· REMOVING DISTRACTIONS
· Acknowledging that you are procrastinating and forgiving yourself for it.
· Concentrating on the thingsz that might cause your procrastination, such a s fear, anxiety,
difficulty in concentrating, poor time management indecisiveness and perfectionism.
· Realistic goals
· Prioritizing
· Change your way of thinking. Saying “I need to do this or something bad will happen”
makes you feel powerless. Instead try to say “I choose to do this so that good results
follow” will motivate you
· Make starting your activity as appealing as possible and try to reward yourself
immediately after, but with something that keeps you engaged. Maybe a sweet or maybe
allowing yourself to indulge in an activity you feel unnecessarily guilty while doing.
· Take small steps to not intimidate yourself and make the task seem overwhelming.
