Water Overflow Alarm

The document describes the components and working of a water level alarm system. It includes a transformer, rectifier, filter, regulator and sensors to detect water levels and trigger alarms. When the water level reaches certain points, different colored LEDs will light up or a buzzer will sound. Water level indicators and float switches help save power and money by automatically regulating water levels and limiting unnecessary water and electricity usage. They maximize water usage and maintain appropriate levels at all times.

Power supply block diagram

Transformer
A transformer works through the mutual induction principle. So,
once there is a change within the electric current in one winding, then the
current within the secondary winding can also be induced in its
proximity.

We know that each transformer includes two windings or coils like

primary & secondary. The primary coil is connected to the AC power
source directly whereas the secondary coil is connected to the load. Once
AC is given to the primary winding, then a magnetic flux can be generated
throughout the transformer core, the magnetic field completes its lane.

When the secondary coil comes in contact through this magnetic flux,
then an EMF can be induced on it. So, the generated EMF strength mainly
depends on the no. of turns within secondary coil winding.
Rectifier
Circuit that converts an alternating waveform signal to a
pulsating DC signal. The process is termed full-wave rectification
which converts AC signal to DC signal. The full-wave rectifier uses
more multiple diodes to convert an input AC voltage to provide
an output DC voltage.

Filter
Filter circuit comprises of generally inductor and
capacitor. The inductor allows DC only to pass through it and
capacitor allows AC only to pass through it. Thus, a circuit
formed by the combination of inductors and capacitors can
effectively filter the signal according to the application.

Regulator
For a Power supply to produce a constant output voltage,
irrespective of the input voltage variations or the load current
variations, there is a need for a voltage regulator.

Working of water level Alarm

When water level increases and touches the sensor, the Red
LED will glow indicating that there is water within the tank. As
the water level continues to rise and reaches half the tank,
Yellow LED will glow. When the water in the tank rises to full
an alarm is made by the buzzer as an indication that the
tank is full.

ADVANTAGES OF WATER LEVEL

INDICATORS & FLOAT SWITCHES

1. POWER SAVER
Living in an age where we need to be more conscious of the
energy that we use, a water level controller is ideal at saving
power. Normally, regulating water levels can consume electricity
and wastewater. However, with automatic controllers, the
electricity usage is limited as well as less water needed to
regulate supply.
2. MONEY SAVER
A water level controller helps save money by limiting the waste
of water and electricity. These devices accurately regulate how
much energy is used to protect against any unnecessary
water/electricity usage. Over time, the money saved is quite
substantial.
3. AUTOMATIC
Another notable advantage with these devices is that they
regulate on their own. Eliminating manual operations with
a timer switch, the frustrations of manual monitoring water
tanks are minimized. Water levels are maintained at the
appropriate levels thanks to the automatic operations of
these devices.
4. WATER MAXIMIZATION
On average, water pumps are used more during midday. A water
level controller can maximize the water usage provided during
midday while automatically lessening the water usage at
night. This results in an appropriate level of water at all times
being maintained, while providing you with the maximum use of
your water at the appropriate times
