Summary/Objective:
As a Principal Technical Architect, you will proactively and holistically lead and support architecture
activities that guide the development and management of solutions, as well as provide the leadership,
facilitation, analysis, and conceptual and logical design tasks required for the development of the technical
architecture. Translating business and technical requirements into architectural blueprints and
documenting all solution architecture design and analysis is critical to ensuring Tideworks’ products and
solutions meet the needs of our everchanging customers and align to a strategy that will prepare our
organization for future success. To further support our mission critical priorities, you will create
architectural designs that guide and contextualize solution development across initiatives; evaluate,
design, and analyze the implementation of solutions; provide consulting support around solution
architecture to agile teams; and facilitate and orchestrate the delivery of targeted business outcomes
through technical decisions.

Essential Responsibilities:

▪ Defines and reviews the principles to guide solution decisions.


▪ Leads design and implementation of a technical architecture across a group of specific
applications or technologies based on organizational strategy, capabilities and requirements.
▪ Confirms alignment of solutions with Architecture principles and guidelines.
▪ Consults with application or infrastructure development projects to fit systems or infrastructure
to architecture.
▪ Develops the solutions viewpoint, in which business, information and technology viewpoints are
synthesized into solutions that deliver capabilities to the organization.
▪ Defines development guidelines and standards to be utilized in application development and
integration.

▪ Ensures the establishment of a technical architecture needed to generate sustained,


differentiating value for the business.
▪ Accountable for the technical architecture components of the intentional architecture that
defines the principles, guidelines, and guardrails to ensure technical decisions are aligned with
the organization’s future-state architecture vision.
▪ Ensures thorough analysis of current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies to
determine solutions for improvement.
▪ Selects and positions security capabilities to ensure security components address requirements
based on need, compliance, frameworks and best practices and communicates security risks and
solutions to partners, staff and executives.
▪ Ensure effective evaluation, design, and analysis for the application architecture based on
enterprise strategy, capabilities, value-streams, requirements, and enterprise standards.
▪ Ensure effective design and implementation of governance activities associated with ensuring
application architecture assurance and compliance.
▪ Responsible for creating the information architecture and information management strategy for
the organization.
▪ Maintains a holistic view of information assets by creating and maintaining blueprints that
illustrate how information is stored, processed, and accessed.
▪ Create and manage against OKRs.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
▪ Knowledge of all components of a holistic enterprise architecture.
▪ Experience leading and managing to architecture practices and/or community of practices.
▪ Experience technical teams that have an impact on overall product work.
▪ Knowledge and understanding of strategic, new and emerging technology trends, and the
practical application of existing, new and emerging technologies to business and operating
models.
▪ Strong knowledge and understanding of agile methodologies and processes, and the ability to
support agile project teams by providing advice and guidance on opportunities, impact and risks,
taking account of technical and architectural debt.
▪ Strong knowledge of computer operating systems, SDLC methodologies, IT Service Management,
modeling languages, standards and controls, architecture methodologies, security infrastructure,
and database technologies.
▪ Demonstrated ability to negotiate to reach agreements on issues of strategic importance where
there may be widely conflicting goals or perspectives.
▪ Ability to influence senior level management and key stakeholders.
▪ Demonstrated ability to drive consensus on complex matters involving diverse stakeholders
where there may be varying points of view.
▪ Ability to understand, advocate, and augment the principles of information technology strategies.

Qualifications:
▪ Bachelor’s degree preferred or a related field alternatively equivalent work experience preferred.
▪ 10 years of technology and business/industry work experience in an Engineering or Delivery role
with an additional 2-5 years conducting focused architecture work; strategic visioning, developing
artifacts, roadmapping, continues improvement, solutioning, influencing and facilitating
architecture decisions, coaching teams and people.
▪ 2 years of relevant domain experience (may include cloud, automation, integration, security, data,
network or business).
▪ Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.
▪ Experience in using architecture methodologies; related architecture certification desirable
