1. Examine the given figure.
• If the pattern continues, how many squares are there in figure 7? Investigate.
• How did you come up with your answer? What’s your opinion?

1.1. In the figure if the pattern continues, there will be 25 squares in figure 7.
1.2. I come up with my answer by following the pattern given from figure 1 to figure 3, the basis to
illustrate what the next pattern or number of squares to be added in the next figure. I start counting
from the middle and to both opposite sides and add squares in each following figure by following the
pattern gives on how many squares can be added in the next figure to next figure in both opposite
sides until in the 7th figure.

2. Yes, the result will be the same regardless of the number I start with as long as it is a positive
number, the magic number is always 3. In my case that I try different number from small to big
number and whatever the number I try to put and do / follow the magic number steps it will come
up in the end with the same number which is 3.
