Q.2 (a) A packet switched data network (PSDN) given in figure below. Draw the data-flow diagram
and find out the total time (T) for packet of size 1000 bytes to be transmitted from Source 'A' is
destination 'B' if each router is having waiting time of l10 milliseconds and speed of electrical
signal is 2.5 x 10^8 m/s. (Al other required data is given in the figure below)

Packet Transmission " Total Time"

(b) For above given scenario how much time it will take to transmit 1-bit from 'A' to 'B' i.e.,

considering total propagation delay including waiting time in all intermediate routers. If the
effective end-to-end (A -B) throughput is R=l Mbps. Calculate the Bandwidth-delay product (R
XRTT) for 'A' to 'B.
Or
TDM system has 5 users (A, B, C, D, E) each input lines are 1 Kbps. If 1-bit at a time is
multiplexed. Consider 6 time-slots and data is present only in Al, Bl, DI, A2, C2, E2, B3, C3,
D3, E3, A4, B4, D4, E4, A5, ES, B6, D6, E6 other are empty.

(ii) Output channel capacity (iv) Frame duration (v) rate
(b) Asynchronous TDM (draw the diagram) and find out (i) Multiplexed channel capacity (M)
given link utilization factor 0.7 (ii) Saving w.rt synchronous TDM (i) No. of bits required for

Q.3 (a) Considerm-4, in Selective-Repeat (SR) ARQ is used in Link-layer flow control, wherethe
Sliding window' is using maximum possible size as per SR formula. Given that, first 3 frames
are successlully transmitted and acknowledged. 4h frame is lost and after that from 5" frame
onwards all frames are successfully transmitted and acknowledged before time-out. Draw data-
flow diagram showing retransmission (ARQ) after time-out. Clearly show in the diagram the
sequence no. of each frame during transmission with all parameters: S, Sa. Ra and Ssue. What
would bethe protocol efficiency (%) for this given scenario? Only clear diagram with all the
required data/ valucs are required no need of writing any explanation.

(b) Calculate 16-bit HEX checksum for given ASCII Word: #Makeinlndia
ASCI > IEN conversion table is given below)
ASCI HEX ASCI HEX ASCU HEX

Or
(a) Consider m=3, in Go-Back-N (GBN) ARQ is used in Link-layer flow control, where the
Sliding window' is using maximum possible size as per GBN formula. Given that, first 3 frames
are successfully transmitted and acknowledged. 4 frame lost and after that from 5 frame
onwards all frames are successfully transmitted and acknowledged before time-out. Draw data-
flow diagram showing retransmission (ARQ) after time-out. Clearly show in the diagram the
sequence no. of each frame during transmission with all parameters: S, Sa. Ra and Ssize. What
would be the protocol efficiency (%) for this given scenario? - Only clear diagram with all the
required data/ values are required no need of writing any explanation.

in bytes and explain each field. IEEE 802.3 Ethernet frame carries 1000 bytes of payload.
Consider both Physical layer and MAC layer headers and applicable trailer and find the protocol
efficiency (%) considering only IEEE 802.3 underlying technology protocol layers.
(b) Which type of MAC is used in IEEE 802.3 Ethernet draw its flow-chart and explain its
working briefly. Or
