It's hard to imagine that in our lifetime, we've gone from being afraid of strangers to being able to talk
with them in public without feeling like we're being judged or harassed. We've gone from having no access to birth
control because of religious beliefs to having access to contraception and safe abortions with little fanfare or
controversy.
We've gone from having no access to mental health care because of shame about mental illness and no
way for people with mental health issues to get treatment when they need it, to having access to treatment
programs and adequate funding for these programs.

It's hard to imagine life without the Internet. In fact, we might be living in a strange alternate reality if it weren't
for the World Wide Web.
During the 1990s, when people first began to gain access to the Internet, they could only do so by dialing up their
computer at home or at a local coffee shop. It was slow—the connection was painfully slow—but it was a connection
nonetheless.
Thankfully, as more people found value in the Internet, technology took off and provided faster connections so
that users could connect to the web without having to wait on dial-up speeds.

2. Creative work. Think of a device with special features that you can develop to help improve lives of people
in our society. It could be something that you can develop to help in communication, transportation,
health, and the like. Illustrate your device in a short bond paper.
I'm always looking for ways to make our world a better place, and I've come up with an idea that could really help
out a lot of people.
Right now, there are lots of people who live in rural areas or mountains, because it's hard to get electricity. That's
why they have to use kerosene lamps—but kerosene is a fossil fuel and causes pollution.
I think we should do something about this—and the way I see it, the best way is to convert our roads into power
plants! We'd collect energy from the moving wheels of cars and trucks, which would make electric vehicles more
common and reduce pollution as well as CO2 emissions. It would also help farmers by giving them access to power
during harvest time—and who doesn't like seeing a tractor drive around with a solar panel attached?
It's not just farmers or people who live in remote areas who could benefit from this idea; everyone would be able
to access clean energy sources that don't pollute our air or water supply or cause climate change.
