Introduction
EMC NetWorker supports multiple data protection options and can be integrated with the industry-
leading data deduplication solution Data Domain . This article will demonstrate how to configure the
client and restore data in the NetWorker + Data Domain environment.

More information
Client Configuration Wizard :

The following are the general configuration steps for NetWorker with DD Boost for
Windows . However, complex configurations involving custom media pools, migration, storage set
integration, storage nodes, libraries, siloes, and library sharing are outside the scope of this discussion.

1. Open the NetWorker Management Console

2. Click Enterprise after entering NMC :

3. Select the NetWorker server and double-click, then click the Configuration option,
select Client Backup Configuration> New :

The following describes the relationship between NetWorker groups, plans, clients, and save
sets. These resources work together to implement the basic backup functions of NetWorker .
Group settings

The NetWorker group is used to set the time of day to start scheduled backups. When the group is
set to start automatically, it will start at the same time every day. You can also start groups on
demand. In the Configuration Click on the left window options in Groups , and then select the right
window of the DD BOOST Files , choose Properties to configure:
Plan setting

The basic function of NetWorker planning is to define the level of backup to be completed on a
specific date. The default setting is a full backup on Sunday, and incremental backups are performed on
the remaining days of the week. The default plan is sufficient for many users. Still in
the Configuration interface, click on Schedules on the left , select Full Every Friday on the right , and
click Properties :
Policy setting
The browsing strategy determines the time available for browsing and restoring files in a file-by-file
operation. The retention policy determines how long the backup set is retained by NetWorker and
prevents media reclamation. On the Configuration interface, click Policies on the left , select 5 Days on
the right , and click Properties :

Client settings

The NetWorker client defines the host to be backed up, the exact data to be backed up, and the
group, schedule, and strategy used for the client's backup. Users can set multiple client resources for a
host system. This allows the data on the system to be partitioned and backed up on different tapes at
different times. In the Configuration interface, click Clients on the left , select the instance in the DD
BOOST Files group, and click Properties :
You can add more Save sets here , such as C:\Tools :
