Procedure Teacher Teaching Assistant

Activity 1: Getting to know - class rules (5 mins)


Aim: help students understand the class rules before starting the - Prepare name tags for students
lesson
 T greets each student
 T writes the class rules on the board. With each class rule, T
models the actions & asks Ss to follow:
- Sit nicely (hands folded on the table)
- Raise your hands (Raise your hand)
- Be confident! (stand in victory pose)

Activity 2: Greetings/ Warm-up (5 mins)


Aim: to help Ss settle down & prepare the body and mind for the
class
 Asks Ss to stand up and says Hello to the whole class, prompting
the class to say hello back - Models saying Hello
 Students hold each other hands and form a big circle. - Help form students into a circle
 T models the actions: - Model the actions
- Clap your hands (Clap Clap Clap - Good Job!)
- Touch your toes (Down Down Down) - Sing along and model the
 Turns on the song: Hello Song! Can you clap your hands? . T sings actions
aloud and does the actions, encourage Ss to dance along.
 After the song, T cheers with the class and asks Ss to sit down in
the same circle. - Set out chairs in circle for Ss to
sit down
Activity 4: Introduce Animals Vocabulary (10 mins)
Aim: to help Ss learn the farm animal vocabulary, also associate
the animals with their sounds
Summary: show the flashcards to all students, introduce the
words, mime to be the animal and have the students say the
words.
 T will begin by showing students the animals FC: cow / sheep /
duck / hen / horse
 T says the words and having students repeat as a whole.
(T may ask the student to say the word from whisper to shout
aloud)
 After the basic introduction, T will show Ss the FC without saying
the word, but make the animal action & sound instead:
*show horse* jump & says “neigh...neigh...neigh...horse”
Encourage Ss to do the same
Do the same for the other words:
*cow* “moo...moo...moo...cow” (arm stretched as a tail behind)
*sheep* “baa...baa...baa...sheep” (arms made a curvy shape)
*duck* “quack...quack...quack...duck” (hands moved like a beak)
*hen* “cluck...cluck...cluck...hen” (flap arms like wings)
Call on some individual to check and correct their pronunciation
if necessary,

Activity 5: Practice Animals Vocabulary (10 mins)


Aim: to help Ss practice the animal vocabulary. Teacher will be
able to help Ss correct pronunciation mistakes individually.
Game 1: Sticky ball TA prepares a sticky ball, blue
Summary: students from 2 teams throw a sticky ball to the flashcards tags (for sticking the flashcards
(on the board) and say the animal. on the board).
 T sticks the FCs on the board in random order.
 Before starting the game, T points to each FC to elicit answers
from students by making the sounds & actions, Ss will say the
animal name.
 One member from each team will stand in the front. When they
hear teacher make an animal sound, they will throw the ball to
the correct animal FC on the board. (Teacher may invite some
students to say the word instead)
 The student who thows the ball correctly first will say the name
of the animal. T will correct the pronunciation if necessary. T
high-fives both students & continues with other team members.
Game 2: Musical flashcards
- Summary: Place cards in a circle. have the kids walk/jump/ hop
around the cards in a circle. when the music stops. stand behind
a card. the teacher then asks random questions.
- T places the FC in a circle on the floor, have the kids walk around
the cards in a circle. Students walk around in the circle while
teacher turns the music on. When the music stops, students have
to find a card and stand behind. The teacher then asks What
animal is this?
Game 3: Flashcard Steal (if time allows)
 Class in 2 teams, sitting in opposite sides of the class
 T puts FC in the middle of the class & 2 teams.
 Each team has one student playing first.
 Ss listen to the animal sound that T says, then run quickly to get
the right FC, then say aloud the word.
 The team with more points is the winner.

Activity 7: Wrapping-up (5 mins)


Aim: to wrap up the lesson enthusiastically
 T asks Ss to stand up
 T models the actions: clap my hand,stamp my feet,wave goodbye
 Class dance to the song Bye Bye Song. T encourages Ss to wave at
each other goodbye
 Ss get a sticker on their shirts and wave goodbye to teacher - TA gives Ss stickers
before going home
