Daily Lesson Plan Grade 7 Math Sample

This detailed lesson plan outlines a 60-minute math lesson for 7th grade students on multiplying binomials. The lesson begins with a 10-minute review of exponents, addition/subtraction of integers, and multiplication of integers. Students will then participate in a 20-minute activity where they are divided into groups and assigned to work on examples of multiplying binomials, finding the product of the sum and difference of terms, and squaring binomials. Representatives from each group will then present their work. This is followed by a 10-minute practice session and 5-minute written test. The lesson concludes with a 3-minute assignment on finding the greatest common factor.

DETAILED LESSON PLAN

Date: February 27, 2019

DLP No.: 59 Learning Area: Math Grade Level: 7 Quarter: 4 Duration: 60mins
Learning
Competency/i Uses models and algebraic methods to find the: (a) product of two Code: M7AL-IIe-g-1
es: binomials; (b) product of the sum and difference of two terms; (c)
square of a binomial; (d) cube of a binomial; (e) product of a binomial
and a trinomial.
Key Concepts  In multiplying a binomial by another binomial, simply multiply the first term of the first
/ binomial to each term of the second binomial and take the algebraic sum of these
Understandin products. This procedure is known as F-O-I-L method or Smile method. The FOIL method
gs to be is a process used in algebra when you multiply two binomials.
Developed: F-first term O-outer term I-inner term L-last term
( x+ y )(a−b )=ax−bx+ay−by
Another way is the vertical method.
 The product of the sum and difference of the same two terms is always the difference of
two squares; it is the first term squared minus the second term squared. Thus, the
resulting binomial is called a difference of squares.
( a+b )( a−b )=a 2−b2
2
 Square of a binomial ( a±b ) is the product of a binomial when multiplied to itself. The
square of a binomial produces the following three terms:
1. The square of the first term.
2. Twice the product of the two terms.
3. The square of the second term.
The general formula:
( a+b )2=a2 +2 ab +b2 2 2
; ( a−b ) =a −2 ab+ b
2

When a binomial is squared, the resulting trinomial is called a perfect square trinomial.
4. Objectives
Knowledge Discuss the steps in finding the product of two binomials, product of the sum and difference of the
same two terms and square of a binomial.
Skills Multiply two binomials ,sum and difference of the same two terms and square of a binomial by
simply following the pattern.
Attitudes Demonstrate open-mindedness in dealing with tasks.
Values Show patience in performing the tasks.
2. Content Product of Two Binomials, Product of the Sum and Difference of Two Terms and Square of a
Binomial
3. Learning

4. Procedures (indicate the steps you will undertake to teach the lesson and indicate the no. of minutes each
step will consume)
Preparation I. Check and discuss the assignment.
10minutes
II. Review the class on the following:
1. Laws of exponents.
2. Addition/Subtraction of Integers.
3. Multiplication of Integers.
Presentation ACTVITY : Product Carousel
20 minutes Divide the class into 8 groups then assign each group to work with the item that
corresponds to their group number and prepare presentation of their work. Let one
representative of the group move to other station and answer the questions.

After that let each team present their work assigned to them.

Practice Let one representative of the group move to other station and answer the questions.
10 minutes
After that let each team present their work assigned to them.

ABSTRACTION:
Ask: What patterns did you observed?
5. Assessment (indicate whether it is thru Observation and/ or Talking/conferencing to learners and/or
Analysis of Learner’s Products and/or Tests)
