Abstract
Colleges may not look much like it did few years back. With the increasing advancement of cutting-edge
technologies such as cloud, mobile, digital and analytics has transformed the way libraries offer many
services. College and university libraries are making headway, despite the rising challenges and expectations
of today’s students College Library Management Systems are web and mobile-based applications that allow
higher education institutions to deliver content and resources to students, faculty and staff. The cloud-based
library system provides easy ways for librarians to create and store their library collections. It enables
students and staff to communicate and collaborate through multiple channels. These systems can be used in
college libraries to augment classroom teaching. Here are the ten benefits of integrating cloud-based library
management system in your institution:

INTRODUCTION
The Library Management System maintains information about its Users, Newspapers, Journals and
Magazines, Books and Transactions. It stores database records of Students, Teachers, Suppliers and Books.
Every transaction like Book issue, Book return is maintained as an entry along with the Due details. Advance
Records Searching with export excel sheet facility is also available.
We have developed this system using vb.net application to make the task easy for the colleges to make the
data collection efficiently. This system consists of admin login, and librarian login.
They can easily add, delete, and modify student’s data and books data as per their requirement anytime
anywhere.
This system is for both system use and for Internet access. It means any one can remotely use this system
from anywhere. We have used different tools for this system like tool bar, navigation bar etc Visual
Basic .NET (VB.NET) is a multi-paradigm, object-oriented programming language, implemented on
the .NET Framework . Microsoft launched VB.NET in 2002 as the successor to its original Visual Basic
language. Although the ".NET" portion of the name was dropped in 2005, this article uses "Visual Basic
[.NET]" to refer to all Visual Basic languages released since 2002, in order to distinguish between them and
the classic Visual Basic. Along with Visual C#, it is one of the two main languages targeting the .NET
framework.
Microsoft's integrated development environment (IDE) for developing in Visual Basic .NET language is
Visual Studio. Most Visual Studio editions are commercial; the only exceptions are Visual Studio Express
and Visual Studio Community, which are freeware. In addition, the .NET Framework SDK includes a
freeware command-line compiler called vbc.exe. Mono also includes a command-line VB.NET compiler.

By using library management system, the operation of borrowing and managing inventories is paperless. This
system provides a user-friendly data entry with dropdown button menu, list box and checkbox in purpose to
make the input entry easier to understand and use. It is also created to ensure that the library items are stored
properly in order to maintain their security.
This system will store all the books and members information that consist book numbers, book titles, author
names and racks to the system database. It also provides search function to help students find the book by
number of book. Search function will search through the books database to look for the book and view where
the book is situated.
For the administrator user, only librarians have access to view or edit data from the system databases.
Administrator user will handle administrative functions such as create new LMS user account and decide the
number of days allowed for the borrowed books. Users need to enter correct password and user id before they
can access to this function. From here, they can add, delete or update the book and borrower database .

Data Flow Diagram
It's easy to understand the flow of data through systems with the right data flow diagram
software. This guide provides everything you need to know about data flow diagrams,
including definitions, history, and symbols and notations. You'll learn the different levels of a
DFD, the difference between a logical and a physical DFD and tips for making a DFD.
8
Usecase Diagram
The purpose of use case diagram is to capture the dynamic aspect of a system. However, this
definition is too generic to describe the purpose, as other four diagrams (activity, sequence,
collaboration, and Statechart) also have the same purpose. We will look into some specific
purpose, which will distinguish it from other four diagrams.
Use case diagrams are used to gather the requirements of a system including internal and
external influences. These requirements are mostly design requirements. Hence, when a
system is analyzed to gather its functionalities, use cases are prepared and actors are
identified.

ER Diagram
An entity relationship diagram (ERD) shows the relationships of entity sets stored in a
database. An entity in this context is an object, a component of data. An entity set is a
collection of similar entities. These entities can have attributes that define its properties. By
defining the entities, their attributes, and showing the relationships between them, an ER
diagram illustrates the logical structure of databases.

Benefits of Library Management System
Colleges may not look much like it did few years back. With the increasing advancement of
cutting-edge technologies such as cloud, mobile, digital and analytics has transformed the way
libraries offer many services. College and university libraries are making headway, despite the

5. Mobile Access
The library management system provides mobile access to search the library catalog,
schedules, books and resources from anywhere, at any given time via smartphones and tablets.
6. Dynamic Reports
Maximize the performance of libraries with dynamic reports, charts and graphs to review and
track the progress for better decision-making.
7. Error-free
The automated library software is user-friendly, powerful and developed for easy entry of
data, makes library operations free from errors.
8. Innovation
Students can search, write articles, upload photos and videos, manage email, send messages,
but also help them to keep up with the librarian and other students via chat, discussion forums,
and social media.
9. Fully Customizable
The library automation system is fully customizable and adaptable to the needs of educational
institutions to provide fast, reliable data.
10. Cost-effective
Embracing sophisticated technologies is cost-effective and a viable choice for education
institutions. Using cloud, mobile and digital libraries eliminates paper-based processes and
maintenance overheads, improves productivity, reduces operation costs and saves time.
