Assignment 2

The document analyzes stock data for Tata Steel Ltd. and Jindal Vijayanagar Steel Ltd. over the past year. It calculates various statistical measures like mean, median, mode, percentiles, quartiles, standard deviation, and variance for the stocks' closing prices and percentage changes. Some observations are identified as outliers. Re-calculating the variance and standard deviation after removing outliers shows lower values for Tata Steel and higher values for Jindal Vijayanagar Steel. In conclusion, Jindal Vijayanagar Steel has performed better based on the statistical analysis.

INTERPRETATION FOR CHOSEN STOCKS :-

OUTLIER OBSERVATION:-
An outlier is an observation that lies abnormally far away from other values in a dataset.
Outliers can be problematic because they can affect the results of an analysis.

The interquartile range is the difference between the 25th percentile (Q1) and the 75th
percentile (Q3) in a dataset. It measures the spread of the middle 50% of values.
One popular method is to declare an observation to be an outlier if it has a value 1.5
times greater than the IQR or 1.5 times less than the interquartile range.
Thus, we observed that the data contained outliers.

REMOVING OUTLIERS AND CALCULATING VARIOUS PARAMETERS:-

When we calculated variance and standard deviation excluding the outliers, the
following values were obtained:-

TATA STEEL LTD. JSW STEEL LTD.

Variance = 47.91967799 Variance = 270.4669894

Standard Deviation = 6.922404062 Standard Deviation = 16.44588062

CONCLUSION
We can conclude from the observations that JSW steel is doing better than Tata
Steel.
