DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
Region IV-A CALABARZON
Division of Laguna
District of Los Baños
MAYONDON NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
Mayondon, Los Baños, Laguna
I. STANDARDS / COMPETENCIES
A. CONTENT STANDARDS: The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of
circles and coordinate geometry.
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS: The learner is able to formulate and find solutions to
challenging situations involving circles and other related terms in different disciplines
through appropriate and accurate representations.
C. LEARNING COMPETENCY:
1. The learner derives inductively the relations among chords, arcs, central angles and
inscribed angles. (M10GE-IIc-1)
2. The learner proves theorems related to chords, arcs, central angles and inscribed
angles. (M10GE-IId-1)
D. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. Define central angles and inscribed angles.
2. Identify if an angle is central angle or inscribed angle.
3. Solve problems involving the measurement of central angle and inscribed angle in
relation with its intercepted arc.
IV. PROCEDURES
A. Classroom Management
B. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting new lesson
Review the parts of a circle using the interactive educational mobile game “Kahoot”.
Allow the students to use their mobile phones in playing the game.
Part 2: Using the angles formed by the students, allow them to identify the measurement
of the portion of the circumference of a circle in which the angle intersects. Ask them the
following questions:
1. What is the measurement of the portion of the circumference of a circle in which
the angle intersects? What do you call this portion of the circumference of the
circle?
2. What is the measurement of the angle? (Allow them to use protractor to identify
the measurement of the angle.)
3. What do you think is the relationship between the measurements of the angles
and its intercepted arcs?
As part of the discussion, the teacher will illustrate the relationships of circle and angles
in the given figures. Find the measurement of the unknown arcs and angles.
1.
What is the measurement of EKF if J measures
145°?
C
60°
3. A
B O
M
4.
What is the measurement of
MO? 58°
5.
70°
NOTE: 1 point will be given for every correct measurements of angle or arc. Another 1
point will be given if the group can identify if the angle is a central angle or inscribed
angle correctly.
F. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson
1. To generalize the lesson, ask the students to enumerate 3 things that they have
learned for the day.
G. Evaluating Learning
Answer the problem below:
1. The moon orbits the Earth once every 27.322 days. The phases of the moon are
shown below:
D B
45°
