1.0. SCOPE
The present specification refers to the testing conditions of flowserve centrifugal pumps.
3.1. Pressure gauge connection will be placed at minimum 2 D from the pump suction
nozzle. Suction conditions are regulated by valve
3.2. Pressure gauge connection will be placed at least 2 D from the discharge nozzle
3.3. Pressure gauge connection are not to be placed on conical pipes or on elbows.
3.4. The holes of pressure-gauge connections will be perpendicular to the pipewall
and will have no sharp cornered, burr free edges, so as to cause no turbulance in
the flow or mistake in measurement.
The radius of any chamber will be less than d/4, where d = hole diameter.
The pipe surface close to the pressure gauge connection shall be smooth.
4.0. INSTRUMENTS
All instrument employed during perfomance testing shall be calibrated as specified in
proper specifications. Certification will be avalaible for customer review.
5.0. MEASUREMENTS
5.1. Capacity (Q)
Capacity (Q) will be measured according to one of the systems specified
herebelow:
b) Magnetic flowmeter:
Capacity will be measured by means of magnetic, flowmeter tranducer; the
current output value will be converted to the flow value directly by the
instrument converter and displayed on it.
[m]
Where:
M = Pressure gauge reading [m]
h = Pressure gauge geodetical height from pump centerline
or from sump free water surface [m]
[KW]
Where
Power Absorbed (kW)
= Voltage reading (Volt)
I = Ampere reading (A)
m = Efficiency motor (%)
5.4. Efficiency
The pump efficiency will be determined according to the following formula:
Where
Q = Capacity [m3/hr]
H = Total dynamic head [m]
Pa = Absorbed power [KW]
Sg = Specific gravity of the test liquid [Kg/dm3]
6.1. Test will be performed at the nearest 50 cycles synchronous speed. Test speed
will be +/- 3 % of contractual speed.
6.2. Prime the pump, star the motor keeping the discharge valve partially open, so as
to restrict the flow. Vent the differential pressure gauge. Allow pump to run until
temperature is stabilized, arround 20-30 minutes.
6.3. Adjust the discharge valve to obtain H corresponding to 100% of contractual
capacity and let the flow settle.
Measure Q, H, RPM and power input and record the data on testing certiifcate.
6.4. Repeat measurements at Q = 120 %, rated, 65 %, minimum of flow and shut-off.
6.5. Sound level measurements will be taken during testing.
6.6. Unfiltered vibration measurements and FFT spectrum will be made at each test
point except shut-off. The measurement will be taken on bearing housing in
axial,horizontal and vertical direction.
The plotted spectra will be included with in the pump test resutls. Vibrations has
to be limited as stated in paragraph 59.3. of API 610 10th ed.
6.7. When bearing housings temperature is steady, it must be recorded on the testing
certificate.
6.8. Performance testing can be stopped after the completion of all the former
prescriptions. The minimum duration of performance testing shall be at least of
30 minutes.
6.9. Performance test fluid will be water upn completion of the performance testing,
the relative certificate shall be issued and the performance curves drawn.
6.10. Each testing certificate shall specify the following reference:
Complete pump identification (type and serial number)
Test liqiuid temperature and atmospheric pressure
6.11. Performance curve to be drawn shall be the following:
Head flow curve
Efficiency curve
Absorbed power curve
6.12. Performance testing results shall be evaluated with the involvement of QA
responsible who, in case of positive test shall sign the test certificate, while in
case of negative test shall draw up the non-conformity report.
6.13. Contract seal and bearings will be used for the test.
