POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES AND POSSESSIVE PRONOUNS

8. Don’t stand on (my / mine) foot!

*Remember!
 A dependent possessive pronoun needs to be used with a noun.
 An independent possessive does not need a noun (it takes the place of a noun and
adds possession)

Write the past simple forms of the regular verbs in brackets to complete these sentences.

Write the past simple forms of the irregular verbs in brackets to complete these
sentences.

6. After the meeting, I (speak) with my boss.

*Remember

We form the simple past of regular verbs by adding -ed to the verb.
RULES:

1. Regular verbs ending in a silent e


o close = closed
o die = died
o phone = phoned
2. Regular verbs ending in a vowel + y
o play = played
o destroy = destroyed
o show = showed
3. Regular verbs ending in a consonant + y (the ' y' becomes an ' i' followed by -ed)
o marry = married
o carry = carried
o study = studied
4. All the other regular verbs take -ed.
o visit = visited
o miss = missed
o watch = watched
