Detailed Lesson Plan (Operation On Integers) Lady

The lesson plan provides instructions for teaching a mathematics lesson on operations of integers to 7th grade students. It includes objectives, subject content from reference materials, and detailed procedures for the lesson. The procedures outline teacher and student activities such as reviewing previous lessons, demonstrating integer operations through examples and videos, discussing rules for each operation, and having students complete practice problems and examples applying the concepts. The goal is for students to understand how to perform each integer operation and recognize their real-world applications.

A Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics

Grade 7

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:
a. Distinguish the rules on different operation of integers.
b. Construct a mathematical equation using the four (4)
operations of integers.
c. Recognize the importance of using integers in real life.

II. Subject Content

Topic: Operation on Integers

Reference: Topic: Operation on Integers References: Villano M., Mupas L.,

Materials: Powerpoint Presentation, Marker

III. Procedures

Teachers Activity Student's Activity

1. Greetings
-Good morning, Class.
-Good morning, Ma’am
2. Opening Prayer
-Let us pray first.
-Amen.
3. Checking of Attendance
-Who's absent today?
-Ma’am there is no absent today
-Okay thank you.

4. Classroom Management
-Please pick up the pieces of paper
under your chair.

5. Passing of Assignment
-Please pass your assignment

6. Drills/Energizer

-Before we start our day, let us

have first a math trick. Do you
want a math trick?
-Yes Ma’am
-Are you ready?
-So, get any piece of paper and -Yes Ma’am
ball pen. Write your month
number from your birthday. For
example, if your birthday is June
then your month is 6.

-Then, multiply by 5.

-Next, add 6.

-Multiply the total by 4.

-Add 9.

-Multiply by 5 once again.

-Then, add your birth date. If you

were born on the 20th, then add
20.

-And last, subtract 165. You will

surprise because you will have
the month and day you were
born.

-Are you done?

-Yes Ma’am
-What you have notice in the
trick? -I have notice that in
mathematics you just have to
follow the instruction for you to
-Exactly, Very Good! get the correct answer.

7. Review

So, before we proceed to our next

topic, let us have a short review of
what we have discussed last
meeting. So, who among you still
remember our last topic? -Our last topic is about
introduction of integers.
Yes, Ms.

-Integers are a set of positive

Exactly. What do you mean by and negative number.
integer?
Yes Ms.
-The absolute value of a
Very good. How will you define the number is its distance from zero
absolute value of a number? to the number line.
Yes Mr.
Okay Thank you. It feels great
that you still remember our last
topic.

8. Motivation

It seems that you have fully

understood our last topic, now we
will proceed to the next. But
before we formally start our lesson
I will show you a video clip
entitled Application of Integers in
Real Life. While watching the -Yes Ma’am.
video, you’re going to take note of
what you have noticed in the
video. Is that clear?

If that so, here is the video. (The

teacher will play the video)

(after the video presentation)

What can you say about the video
the video? -The video shows us how
Yes Ms. integers are being used in this
world.
Very Good. Another?

Yes Ms.

Very Good! We can’t deny the fact -The video tells us that we don’t
that almost all of the students have to hate mathematics
nowadays hate mathematics a lot. because it is already part of us,
But why? Though mathematics is whether we like it or not, math
really part of our life. Everything is around us.
we do is part of math. When we
are eating, taking a bath or even
when we travel. There is always
an integration of mathematics. Did
I make myself clear? -Yes Ma’am.

9. Discussion

Now, let us start our discussion.

Today we are going to discuss the
four operations on Integers. What
are the four operations on
integers? -The four operations on integers
are addition, subtraction,
Yes, Mr. ? multiplication and division.
Very Good!

Addition

Operation
Division
on Subtracti
on

Integers

Multiplication

There are rules in adding integers.

(The teacher will post the rules)

Rules in Adding Integers

1. Adding the same signs, keep it

signs

Example:

4+5=9

(-3) + (-7) = -10

2. Different signs, subtract and

carry the sign of the number with
the higher absolute value

Example:

1. 5 + (-2) = 3
|5| + |-2|
5 2

2. 3 + (-10) = -7
|3| |-10|
3 10

Rules For Subtraction

a - b = a + (-b)
In subtracting integers, change
the sign of the subtrahend then
apply the Rule of Addition

Example

1. 9 - 5 =
9 + (-5) = 4
|9| |-5|
9 5

2. 4 - 12 =
4 + (-12) = -8
|4| |-12|
4 12

3. 8 - (-3) =
8 + 3 = 11
|8| + |-3|
8 3

4. (-13) - 5 =
(-13) + (-5) = -18
|-13| |5|
13 5

5. (-14) - (-12) =
(-14) + 12 = -2
|-14| |-12|
14 12

Rules for Multiplication

To multiply two integers with the

same signs, the result is always
positive

(+)(+)
(-)(-) +

Example:
(5)(3) = 15
(-2)(-5) = 10

To multiply two integers with

different signs, the result is always
negative

(+)(-) = (-)
Example

(4)(-3) = -12

(-10)(8) = -80

Rules for Division

To divide two integers with the

same signs, the result is always
positive

(+)
(+) = (+)

(-)
(-) = (-)

Example:

12/6 = 6
-25/-5 = 5

To divide two integers with

different signs, the result is always
negative

(+)
(-) = (-)

Example

-40/8 = -5

10. Application

Since you already understand our

lesson, Let us have our final
activity. The right side will be
group 1 and the left side will be
group 2. Make at least 3 examples
of operation of integers which can
be applicable in real life situations.

The group leader will represent

the answer and explain in the
front of the class. This will be your
grade on your recitation. I will
give you 3 minutes to finish the
task.
Is that clear?

Class are you ready?

Ok. Timer starts now.

(after 3 minutes)
Times up!

Now lets us have the group

number 1.

Ok thanks. Very Good!

Now, group 2 presents your work.

Very Good!

Ok class, since you enjoy our

activity, please give yourselves a
good Job clap.

11. Generalization

What is the rules in adding -Adding the same signs, keep it

integers? signs

- Different signs, subtract and

carry the sign of the number
with the higher absolute value

How about subtracting integers? - In subtracting integers,

change the sign of the
subtrahend then apply the Rule
of Addition

How about the rules in -To multiply two integers with

multiplication the same signs, the result is
always positive

-To multiply two integers with

different signs, the result is
always
negative

How about the rules in division of -To divide two integers with the
integers? same signs, the result is always
positive
-To divide two integers with
different signs, the result is
always negative

Very well said. I think you already

know how to add, subtract,
multiply and divide integers.

So please get 1/4 of papers and

answer the following.
