PHENOMENOLOGY
● The study of phenomena
involving human events,
situations, concepts,
experiences or, needs

Assessing unique attributes of gifted children (defined as
having great natural ability) as compared to those of
children of average intelligence

A study that aims to rationalize the nurturing of world-


class athletes (e.g., Olympic medalists)

practices.

Ethnographic parameters may include: (1) tribal, (2)


religious, (3) geographical, and shared experiences.

Example

A study in attempt to explore the phenomenal success of


many Filipino-Chinese in building business conglomerates.
The researchers may want to determine the core of
the Filipino-Chinese business success and what
strategies have been adopted consistent with the
core.
CASE STUDY

NARRATIVE RESEARCH
