“This sensor must be installed in compliance with the conteol panel system
installation manual. The istallaion must meet the requirements of the Au
thority Having Jurisdiction (AML). Sensors offer maximum performance wien
instaled in compliance withthe National Fire Protection Assocation (NFPA);
soe NEVA 72,
Before Installing sensors, plese read the system witing and ingtallation man
ual thoroughly. This manual provides detailed information on sensor spac
ing, placement, zoning, and special applications, Copies ofthese manuals are
available from Notiiet,
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Models FST9SI, FST9SLIV, PSTSSIR, FSPSSIRIV, FSPSSIK, and
PST9SIMV are field programmable intligent sensors that utilize a state-of
the-art thermistor sensing circuit for fas response. These sensors are designed
to provide open area protection with 80-00 spacing capablity ab approved
by UL 521. The inteligent temperature sensor can be programmed as either
a 135°F flaed temperature sensor, a fate of rise and 135°F fied temperature
sensor or a 190°F high temperature sensor through the Fire Alarm Control
Panel (FAC?)
‘Two LEDs on each sensor light to provide a local, visible sensor indication,
Remote LED anounciator capability is avallable a8 an optional accessory
(Part No. RA1002). Rotary dial switches are provided for setting the sensor's
address. (See Figure 1)

NNotter panels offer different feature ses across different models. As ares,
ceriain features of the Intelligent Programmable Temperature Sensors may.
be available on some control panels, but not on others. FSESSL, FST9SIR,
and FST9SIH will support only Flashscan® protocol mode. FST9SI-1¥,
FSEOSIRAN, and FSF9SIHAV will suppor either FlashScan oF CLIP (Classic
Loop interface Protocol) mode,
‘The possible features available if supported by te control panel include:
|. The sensor’s LEDs can operate in three ways—on, off and blinking and
‘they can beset fo red, green, or amber. This is controlled bythe panel
2, The remote output may be synchronized to the LED operation or con
trolled independent ofthe LEDs, Please refer tothe operation manual for
the UL listed contol unit for specific operation ofthese models
3, Devices are point addressable upto 159 addresses.
44. The heat sensor opeaies as a programmable heat detector
NOTE: In panels where this feature is not availabe, the FST9St and
FST95L-4V will default to a 135°F fixed heat detector. FSTSIR and
FSTSSIRIV will default to 2 135°F fixed heat detecior and rate-of tse.
ESPSSIH and PSESSIHIV will default to a 190°F igh temperatare heat
detector.
Intelligent programmable temperature sensors require compatible adatessable
‘communications to function propery. Connect these sensors to lised-compat-
ible control panels ony,
WIRING GUIDE
All wiring must be installed in compliance with the National Electrical Code,
applicable local codes and the Authority Having Jurisdiction, Proper wire
‘gauges should be used, The instalation wires should be color coded to limit
‘wiring mistakes and ease system troubleshooting. Improper connections will
prevent a system from responding properly in the event of a fire.
Remove power from the communication line befor installing sensors,
1. Wire the sensor base (supplied separately] 2s shown in the wiring
diagram. (See Figure 2)
2. Set the desied address on the rotary dial switches. (See Figure 1.)
3, Install the sensor into the sensor hase. Push the sensor into the base
while turning it clockwise to secure iin place.
4. After ll sensors have been installed, apply power tothe control unit and
activate the communication line
5. Test the sensor(s) as described inthe TESTING section of this manval.

B. Direct Heat Method (Hairdryer of 1000 ~ 1500 watts)
1 rom the side ofthe detector, direct the heat rowan the sensor Hold
the heat source about 6 inches (15 cm) away to prevent damage to
the cover during testing.
2. The LEDs on the detector should light when the temperature at the
detector reaches the alarm setpoint. Ifthe LEDs fi to light, check the
power tothe detector and the wiring inthe detector base.
3. Reset the detector at the sytem control panel,
Detectors that fail these tests may need to be cleaned as described under
