Disaster is a natural or a man-made or technological hazard
resulting in an event of substantial causing significant physical damage or
destruction, loss of life, or drastic change to the environment. It is also a
phenomenon that can cause damage to life and property and destroy the
economic, social, and cultural life of people. Disaster preparedness is an actual
complex system that contains dos and don’ts in a disaster.
For the last Monday , we have invited for the seminar and training of
NSTP-CWTS to listen and to take down note on how to prevent the disaster
happen in our lives. I have learn this subject of the proper first aid basic safety
and disaster readiness training with the help of the Atimonan Bureau of fire
and protection. First, they explain the fire safety and management plan so that
we can understand on how it is important in our lives and also, they
differentiate the kinds of fire or the natural man-made and then the compared
each kind separately with the use of examples.
Additionally , I also learned about the chemistry of fire which is the
chain of fire, chain reaction, fuel , heat, and oxygen and the three components
of chemistry of fire which was the oxygen, heat, and fire. Aside from that we
also learned about the fire classes of fire which was the ( A, B, C, D, F) which is
a very important part because by understanding what each fire classes means,
and we also understood which fire types are a safety hazard in our homes.
As the precautionary concepts measure is one must do during a fire is that we
have learned the mnemonics R.A.C.E and P.A.S.S. the procedure that we have
learned was shortened into called R.A.C.E. which stands for Rescue, Alert,
Confine, Extinguisher for firefighting procedures as well as the P.A.S.S which
stands for Pull the safety pin from the extinguisher, Aim at the basic bottom of
the fire and stand 6 to 8 feet away, Squeeze the lever to discharge the
extinguishing agent , Sweep the nozzle from side to side until the flames are
totally extinguished.
