Assignment Topic

This document discusses Newton's three laws of motion and their application to sports. It provides examples for each law: Newton's first law is demonstrated by a football at rest that does not change state until kicked; Newton's second law is shown through the motion of a rugby ball depending on the applied force and its mass; Newton's third law is exemplified by a squash ball changing direction after hitting a wall due to the equal and opposite reaction force. The document was submitted by Wajid Ali Baig for their assignment on Newton's laws of motion in the Department of Physical Education at Government College University Lahore.

1- Newton’s Laws of Motion, discuss in detail with using picture?

Newton First Law of Motion:

Newton first law of motion states that body will remain it state of
motion until external force disturb its state of rest.
For example: a football lying in playground didn’t change its state of
rest until anyone kicked it which will produce an acceleration in it.
Newton Second law of Motion:
Newton second law of motion focuses on nature of force and its after
effects, it states that “when force acts on an object it produces an
acceleration in which is directly proportional to force acting on it and
inversely proportional to mass of body.

Formula:
F=ma
Example:
The motion in rugby ball depend on the force by it projected and its
mass which totally rely on the newton 2nd law of the motion.
Third Law of Motion:
“Every action there is reaction but opposite in direction”. This law
explains the nature of motion being produce in any body due to
external force act on it. The body will oppose the force in opposite in
the direction.

Example of 3rd Law of Motion:

2- Explain how Newton’s three laws of motion apply to sports
activities?

Applications of Newton’s first law of Motion in Sports:

Introduction:
Sports and games are designed according to the physiology of
human body which always works on the principals of
biomechanics. In addition to this context, Biomechanics focuses
on the motion of the bodies effects and their after effects.

Newton first law of motion applications in Sports:

Newton first law of motion deal with resting bodies until and
unless external force act on it. We can examine the example of
free kick of football, the football lying in ground doesn’t until an
athlete or any footballer kicked it which produce motion in resting
state of football.
Newton Second Law of Motion and its Applications in Sports:
Newton second law of motion studies the acceleration of bodies
and examine the masses of bodies. When this concept applied on
the sports, sports also totally rely on it. We can take example of
snooker game like, the striker ball doesn’t move until pushed by
stick toward the pocket. The motion or the acceleration of the
striker ball depends the force by which it pushed and the motion
of striker ball will inversely proportional to the mass of the ball.

Newton Third law of motion and application in Sports:

Newton third law of motion deals with the study of action and
reaction of bodies when force act on it. When these concepts
applied on the sports when can took various examples of it. Like,
when squash ball hit the wall with any specific acceleration it
changes its direction due reactive force of wall acting on the ball
which changes the angel of the ball due to pushing back force.
This concept known as the third law of motion.
