UTS Activity 2

The document describes two identity wheels - a personal identity wheel and social identity wheel. The personal identity wheel has students list adjectives to describe themselves, skills, interests etc to reflect on their identity outside of social roles. The social identity wheel has students identify social identities like race, gender, sexuality and rank their importance to self-perception and how others perceive them. It then provides an example of Acxel Serrano completing the identity wheels, listing identities, challenges with some identities like being a gamer and adventurous, and how he deals with challenges through practice and working hard.

Personal Identity Wheel

“The Personal Identity wheel is a worksheet activity that encourages students to reflect
on how they identify outside of social identifiers. The worksheet prompts students to list
adjectives they would use to describe themselves, skills they have, favorite books,
hobbies, etc. Unlike the social identity wheel, this worksheet doesn’t emphasize
perception or context.

Social Identity Wheel

The Social Identity Wheel worksheet is an activity that encourages students to identify
and reflect on the various ways they identify socially, how those identities become
visible or more keenly felt at different times, and how those identities impact the ways
others perceive or treat them. The worksheet prompts students to fill in various social
identities (such as race, gender, sex, ability disability, sexual orientation, etc.) and further
categorize those identities based on which matter most in their self-perception and
which matter most in others’ perception of them.

1. Encircle the words that are part of your identity.

2. What are some other words you would use to identify yourself?
• Gamer
• Techy (Technology Enthusiast)
• Adventurous

3. Which one has been challenging?

• The most challenging is both gamer and being adventurous. Game requires
knowledge, adventure on the other hand, requires money which can be a
challenge.
4. How do you deal with those challenges?
• Both game and being adventurous is my choice as challenging. To overcome
the challenge in game, I have to practice so that I can harness my skills. On
adventure I have to work hard, maybe extra work, if can so that I will have my
own money on the adventure.

5. Which of these do you wish to change?

• I wish none of them to change, maybe to lessen but not to eradicate my
identification within myself. I love myself by its own ways from its up and
downs, and its highs and lows.

6. What would you change about it?

• None.

7. What would need to happen for you to love parts of your identity more?
• I may have happened to be ashamed of my own identity, but self-love and
self-care helps. Putting yourself more than anyone can uplift your confidence
and make you appreciate your own parts.
