Course Outline

This 3 credit hour course focuses on providing students knowledge of marine engineering. The 48 contact hours are devoted to theory. The course objectives are to equip students with understanding of various marine prime movers and ability to select prime movers for requirements and draw machinery space layouts. Specific learning outcomes are understanding science of diesel engines, turbines and power plants, selecting prime movers, and drawing machinery space layouts. The course content covers marine prime movers, auxiliary systems, fuels and emissions, propulsion systems, and simulation software. modeling, analysis and evaluations of shafting systems:
