2) Why did the people accept these new discoveries despite being contradictory
to what was widely accepted at that time?
- A discovery must go through a rigorous study or research process to be valid and
have proof. This is the primary justification for why new discoveries are accepted even
when they go against previously held beliefs. Despite being the reverse of the initial
discovery, the new discovery is genuine and acceptable due to the abundance of data
and analysis from extensive research. New discoveries like the Darwinian Revolution,
which sparked a massive debate between science and religion, were later accepted,
as people realized that the church's doctrine and Darwin's theory of evolution coexist
and are not in conflict. Same with the Freudian Revolution, where Sigmund Freud was
widely criticized, but soon enough, Psychoanalysis's ideas were finally understood by
the public, leading to psychology's classification as a science.
