• Microprocessor controlled
Operation:
A pump forces the spent hydrochloric acid through a pre-filter and into the evaporator loop,
comprised of the Evaporator exchanger and the Separator.
In the evaporator loop, the hydrochloric acid vaporizes. The acid and water vapors exit the Separator
into the Rectifier. The concentration of acid is controlled in this step to return excellent quality acid to
the pickling process. No metals remain in the recovered solution. The remaining water vapor,
stripped of acid, continues its journey into the Condenser where it is sub-cooled and condensed to
nearly pure water. This water is reused as rinse water in the pickling process or is returned to the
pickling tank with the concentrated acid.
As the acid and water are removed, the ferrous chloride solution increases in concentration. When
the proper solution concentration is reached, the system slowly bleeds the supersaturated iron
chloride concentrate from the loop and delivers it to a crystallizing section or dilutes it in a storage
tank for sale as a solution or crystal. The high metal content salts are often sold as water treatment
chemicals or used by the mining industry.
