The undersigned have the honor to request permission to conduct a Three- Day District
Training-Workshop on Escalating Bio-Intensive Gardening for Gulayan Sa Paaralan and
Livelihood Project in Sta. Barbara District on April 6-8, 2022 at Tuliao National High School.
The following are the reasons for organizing and conducting the above training –
workshop:
1. To intensify the importance of bio-intensive gardening.
2. To capacitate the targeted participants on mushroom production, aquaponics, and
vermiculture.
3. To provide an experience-based bio-intensive gardening parallel to mushroom
production, aquaponics, and vermiculture processes amidst this COVID-19 pandemic.
4. To impart knowledge in the demonstration of organic farming as means of livelihood.
Attached are the PROJECT PROPOSAL and TRAINING MATRIX duly signed by the

PROJECT PROPOSAL
I. Title: DISTRICT TRAINING-WORKSHOP ON ESCALATING BIO-
INTENSIVE GARDENING FOR GULAYAN SA PAARALAN AND
LIVELIHOOD PROJECT IN STA. BARBARA DISTRICT I
II. Date and Venue: APRIL 6-8, 2022, TULIAO NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
III. Rationale:
The said training-workshop is intended for the enrichment of bio-intensive gardening
such as mushroom production, aquaponics and vermiculture. Relative to this, is the development
of such livelihood program for daily needs of participants. Gradually, through this activity, it
serves as a contributory factor for the income generation not only in the lives of the targeted
beneficiaries but also in the community. The participants of this event are elementary and
secondary Gulayan Coordinators, 4Ps representative in each barangay and the PTA President of
each school in Sta. Barbara District I in support with the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program.
Moreover, the innovative strategies and approaches for the said training is highly
applicable and practical for the present condition as to conduct organic farming. This training
promotes a home-based livelihood.
III. Project Description:
The aforementioned training-workshop is a three-day acquirement of knowledge for the
bio-intensive gardening. Consequently, a demonstration and hands-on activities such as making
of organic fertilizers, concoction, potting mix and mushroom production will be manifested
during the event.
Different resource speakers from various institution like Department of Agriculture,
Pangasinan State University – Sta. Maria and expertise in vermiculture and aquaponics are
invited for the delivery of concept and knowledge.
After which, an income generating program will be the concrete output likewise the
intensification of Gulayan sa Paaralan – Organic farming for this school year 2021-2022.
IV. Objectives:
1. To intensify the importance of bio-intensive gardening.
2. To capacitate the target participants on mushroom production, aquaponics, and
vermiculture.
3. To provide target participants with an experience-based mushroom production,
aquaponics, and vermiculture processes amidst this COVID-19 pandemic.
4. To provide knowledge for the livelihood through mushroom production, aquaponics,
and vermiculture.
