intelligence features like expert intelligence, neural network pattern recognition features,
or natural language capabilities.
11. Is there a piece of technology that you really want that doesn’t exist? (i.e.
flying cars, teleportation, etc.)
there are a lot of very ridiculous and useless things that I really want that do not exist
such as hopter, The Time Machine. In my view, these things will never be in the present..
12. Give some examples of technology that have made the world worse.
slim-down tech, you know technology has got thinner, smaller that make people overuse
this and the problem is it’s also made us lazier and in some cases fatter too. social
media. it is irrefutable that it has a lot of benefits but also the negative aspects of social
media, for me it affects our mental health, you always check your social media causing
the loss of something. next, it makes weak eyesight, the part you face to face play social
media.

13. What do you think is the most important thing that humans have created?
One of the outstanding inventions of man must be the versatile remote control devices
that help people not lose much effort, reduce fatigue because of having to move a lot after
a tiring working day. At the same time, remote control devices help people feel in control
of their lives.
14. Do you think that people will travel outside of our solar system?
How will they get there? I don't think it's possible because the planets are too far away.
Even in the most optimistic scenario, assuming we detect a potentially habitable planet
not too far away, say a few dozen light-years away, which means close to the solar
system, the time will come. That's too big.
15. Do you like new gadgets or do you prefer to use technology you are
comfortable with?
I like new technology devices that are increasingly compact with more utilities. The
following items can be a good "helper" for your daily life.

Topic 10: Describe a sort of culture shock you experienced.

1.What strange culture do you have that might be surprising to many foreigners?
Many foreign tourists when coming to Vietnam are very surprised with the culture of this
country, especially they will often see Vietnamese people using chopsticks with any dish
instead of using forks or spoons.
2. What foreign culture do you know that is surprising to you?
The most surprising thing when you come to Japan is that you are forced to cover your
camera when going in public and you can't take pictures without permission because they
will think you're a pervert.
3. How do you feel when some foreigners can’t understand your culture?
I feel it is quite normal because they live in a different country and have a
completely different culture from us so it is completely normal for them not to understand

4. How do people in your country react to some foreigners criticizing your

culture?
If some foreigners criticize our culture, people will feel extremely angry. they may not
understand the culture but it is not okay to criticize it because we all have national pride
so it's not right to criticize our culture
5. Do you think it is necessary to preserve local cultures no matter how strange it
is to foreigners? Why/ Why not?
Local culture is something that needs to be preserved even though it is foreign to
foreigners, but it is a symbol and pride of local people. It expresses the distinct identity of
the people unmistakably
6. What do you think is the best way to learn about another culture?
The best way to learn about another culture is to go there directly to experience the
culture there, from which we can understand the most clearly and deeply, and especially
we must have a passion for that culture.
7.What do you like about your culture?
Of course, I like it a lot, especially the culinary culture in Vietnam. Vietnam is said to be
the country with the most unique culinary culture, I am a Vietnamese myself, but so far I
have not been able to try all the dishes of my country.
8. What culture besides your own do you admire and why?
In addition to Vietnamese culture, I am also extremely impressed with Chinese culture,
China can be considered a neighboring country to Vietnam, but it also has its own
culture. I myself am a lover of literature and poetry, so the culture of poetry always has
something that makes me feel attracted, there are many good and famous poets there as
well as the works and stories they have written. have left, reading about them is really
interesting.
9. What action is considered rude in your culture?
Finger crossed is the active use for wishing someone Good Luck in the Western. But in
Viet Nam, this action is considered very rude action. It means is insult someone.
10. Could you marry someone from a completely different culture? Why? Why
not?
In my opinion, love is not a distinguished culture. If they really love each other, they will
find that culture is not important. They just need to be loved.
11. Which culture do you admire, and why?
I admire the Tet festival of VietNam. It’s one of the most festive events in VietNam
where people gather with their families and friends to celebrate the lunar new year. Tet is
fun from the preparation to the main event. We can make Banh Chung, prepare the
apricot blossom trees, decorate the house, etc. On the first day of the lunar year, the
elderly would receive wishes from their grandkids and give them lucky money in return
which is also what we look forward to the most.
12. Which culture don’t you like, and why?
I don’t like the tradition where the parents get to decide who their children would marry.
From my own view, I think it’s a bit too old-fashioned. People nowadays have the right
to choose what to do and who to love. It’s their own lives and I think they should get to
decide. Parents bringing them up doesn’t mean that they can do anything with their lives.
13. What may surprise foreigners in your culture?
I think it is our traffic situation. Most foreigners when they come to travel in VietNam,
they would have a major cultural shock from the traffic. Especially in the rush hours the
amount of vehicles on the road and the traffic jams would blow their minds. And the
crosswalk is never a crosswalk since the people never make way for the pedestrians.
Crossing a road in a major city in VietNam is a thrilling experience. Even though I
myself am Vietnamese, I still can’t get used to it.
14. Do you know any aspects of foreign cultures that you consider unusual in
your country? Give examples.
In my view, skinship when meeting each other for a non-intimate relationship such as a
business partner, kissing and hugging is not appropriate in Vietnamese culture, because
we only reserve those gestures for family members, close friends and lover.
15. Have you ever experienced any cultural differences among people?
Yes, I have. In 2016, I came to my classmate’s house. His father was live in the North of
VietNam. In my classmate's family when they have a meal, the latest son will invite each
people in their family from oldest to youngest. Instead that, my family didn’t do that. I
invite all members of my family at one time.
