1.1 Description
Keep this description in a safe place and accessible for the personnel
at all times.
The description is part of the items supplied and is to be read carefully
prior to starting assembly, operation or maintenance.
The documentation on the E+L system essentially comprises the high-
er level system description (A), the individual descriptions of the com-
ponents (B, C, ... W), spare part lists (X) and the circuit diagrams (Z).
Proceed in accordance with the instructions in the system description.
All important processes are described in the system description. If nec-
essary, reference is made to the individual descriptions of the compo-
nents.
In the block diagram you will find a schematic illustration of your sys-
tem. In case of digital devices configured by E+L, the block diagram
also contains the address settings.

1.2 Intended use

The device may only be used for the purpose for which it was intended.
The device may only be installed in the customer's machine as defined
by E+L.
The device may not be modified. This action can result in additional
hazards which the safety features may not be sufficient to guard
against.
The device is built according to the state of the art.
Nevertheless, during operation
– Hazards to the user's health or
– Damage to property may occur.
Only use the device
– when it is in correct working order,
– with due attention to safety and hazards while observing the locally
applicable, statutory and customary safety regulations as well as
the regulations for the prevention of accidents.

2. Function

2.1 Purpose
The command station makes it possible to operate 1 to 8 web guiders.
It is also possible to operate the color line sensor FE 5002.

2.2 Design

The command station has the following layout:

1) Display or selection of the selected controller group/s
2) Information buttons (Info, Menu)
3) Display of web offset/set value
4) Entry buttons (UP, DOWN)
5) Touch screen for displaying control elements, warnings and errors
as well as for the schematic representation of the web guider and/
or for operation of the color line sensor FE 5002
6) Buttons for the operating modes (automatic, centre position, man-
ual)

2.3 Principle of operation

Select the required operating mode using the related button. The most
important parts of the web guider are displayed schematically on the
touchscreen.
In addition, buttons dependent on the configuration of the web guider
as well as messages and values are displayed on the touchscreen.
In case of errors, the related message appears on the touchscreen.
Use the two information buttons to open the various submenus.
On the usage of a color line sensor, it is also possible to operate the
color line sensor via the command station. The touchscreen displays
the 2D representation of the web in the field of view of the color line
sensor.

H 4/82 BEA--251193-EN-11
Function Command station DO 400., DO 4011, DC 3..., RT 4008 (ZC 4009)

It is possible to switch between the two displays for the web guider and
the color line sensor at any time.
The multiple operation makes it possible to operate a maximum of 8
CAN groups simultaneously. One of these CAN groups is shown on the
display, you can select the group to display.
The oscillation makes it possible to offset the web during operation.
The oscillation time, the oscillation shape and the oscillation range can
be adjusted. Distance-dependent oscillation is also possible.
The width monitoring indicates the actual web width. If the web width
varies from the web width set, the frame on the display changes from
green to yellow (yellow means warning), or red (error). The values for
warning and error can be adjusted.

Control card assignment

The command station acquires all control cards in the Can network
and indicates them as an icon.
1
2 The first control card found is identified. On the control card identified
3 the Can LED on the controller housing (4) illuminates red.
Each time you press the "RK 40.." the next control card (if available) is
identified. Press the corresponding button on the display for the as-
signment.
The assignment of the buttons is as follows:

has been detected in the Can network.

NOTICE
On a support beam VS 45.. both control cards (RK 4004/RK 4008) can
be mounted in the controller housing for the support beam, depending
on the configuration of the web guider. Assignment using CAN LED (4)
is not possible.
If in the "RK 40.." button the type "RK 4004" is displayed, the button

guiding criterion (Dark line / Bright line / Contrast edge) must be se-
lected. The other guiding criteria are ignored during the teach-in
process. During the subsequent teach-in process, the color line

7.6.1 Programming the operating sequence search criterion

The color line sensor's teach mode was determined in the Commis-
sioning chapter. One of the following three chapters must be applied,
depending on this setting.

NOTICE
When the guidance criterion is programmed, the web should not move
for safety reasons. If the guidance criterion is interrupted, make sure
there is no interruption of the guidance criterion at the color line sen-
sor's scanning point during the teach-in process. If that is not possible,
you can program the guidance criterion at production speed, while
complying with all safety regulations.

The following applies to each teach mode:

The guidance criterion to be programmed should be in the center of the
sensor's measuring range. The dotted line marks the center of the sen-
sor's measuring range. The green arrow on the monitor marks the re-
quired position.
If teaching in is performed with difficult guidance criteria (e.g. interrupt-
ed) with a moving web, the button must be pressed for longer than one
