Glass Check

This document summarizes the load capacity and deflection calculations for a glass combination of 6mm fully tempered outer glass, 16mm air space, and 9.52mm fully tempered inner glass. The calculations determine the load shared by each glass layer, load resistance, and deflection. The load resistance of 4.55KPa exceeds the actual wind load of 1.09KPa. Deflection for the outer glass is 8mm and inner glass is 9.5mm, which are below the allowable deflection limits. Therefore, the glass combination is determined to be safe for the given wind load conditions.

 Aspect ratio of glass = L/B = 3.85/1.22 = 3.15

 Glass area in Sq.M = LxB = 3.85x122= 4.7 sqM
 Wind Load considered = 1.09 Kpa
 From table,5-ASTM E1300, Load share factor LS1 = 3.37
( for outer lite glass-6mm thick)
 Load share factor for Inner lite glass ( 6mm Thick)LS2=1.42
 Load shared outer lite = Windload in Kpa/Load share factor = 1.09/3.37= 0.32KN
 Load shared by Inner lite = 1.09/1.42 =0.76 KN

 Load x Area for outer lite = 0.32Kpa x 4.72 = 7.06 KN-m2
 Load x Area 2 for Inner lite = 0.76x4.7 2 = 16.78
