The effects of active and experiential learning will get to develop and improve nurse's skills. It
will also ensure high-quality patient care by also considering the different learning styles to
create unique, creative, efficient, effective, and productive that may help nurses to become more
knowledgeable and able for them to enhance their skills and understanding. The learning
environment which aligns the concepts to the real world is an excellent opportunity for the
nurses, which also helps promotes critical thinking skills in the ability to incorporate the proper
ways / appropriate interventions to be done and also for the patient's safety.
As Kolb identified different learning styles to experiential theory, this allows the nurses to gain
more knowledge and skills through experiential learning activities, enhancing the experiences
and increasing the patient's safety. Overall, we can enhance our knowledge and skills by
reflecting on our experience to improve our understanding and critical thinking skills and
immediately apply the newly gained knowledge.
Laura Ward, the author of this research, is a registered nurse working as a women's, infants, and
children's clinical health educator situated in cone health at Greensboro Winston. She is an
experienced nurse with a lot of hands-on experience in surgery, medicine, delivery team,
wellness clinics, and level II/III neonatal intensive care. She is also a passionate nurse that has
volunteered for things such as Pap screen and united way champion, serving to raise awareness
and raise funds to reduce poverty.
Laura Ward is also experienced as a health educator; the article is all about the effects of active
and experiential learning; how efficient, effective and productive it can be to help nurses become
more accustomed and knowledgeable not only in theory but when they are also on the frontlines
of their nursing duty. Adding to that, her experience and citations of different studies where we
can identify and check the foundation of her arguments and findings as credible or legitimate
was a way we found out that she knew what she was talking about and experienced the benefits
of experiential learning herself.
The journal was conducted to improve the skills of nurses and to guarantee high-quality patient
care. The abstract part provided different learning strategies such as diverse active and
experiential styles to achieve its objective. The learning framework provided a clear explanation
regarding experiential and divergent learning styles. In experiential learning, Kolb recognized
four unique learning styles while saying divergent understanding for the people who learn best
when brainstorming to be provided.
Overall, the article didn't fail to differentiate the two and improved the nurse's skills. It says that
an experiential learning style is much more effective. The learners easily cope when they are
applying their experience to actual learning.
