Tawhid and Impacts
Definition:
Lexicology: Tauheed - (Root w-h-d means action of unifying and of conferring
unity)
The doctrine of Tauheed affirms the belief in absolute unity and oneness of a
unique, transcendent, omnipotent, compassionate and merciful God. Tauheed is
the very essence of Islam.
Tauheed constitutes the foremost article of the Muslim profession of
submission. The first part of the shahadah (the Islamic declaration of faith) is the
declaration of belief in the oneness of God. To attribute divinity to anything or
anyone else, is shirk – an unpardonable sin according to the Qur'an, if repentance
is not sought afterwards. Islamic monotheism does not begin with the
proclamation of unity of God rather with the unequivocal and absolute negation
of all concepts, ideas and illusions of God other than the one and only dive.
“There is no God but God” (Surah Ikhlas)
It is a revolutionary concept, especially during the time when it was revealed, and
the starting point of Islam. It eliminates all doubts and revokes all sorts of
adulterations to the idea for all time.
“your Lord said to the angels, "Indeed, I will make upon the earth a
successive authority.” (2:30)
“have only created Jinns and men, that they may serve Me. And I (Allah)
created not the jinns and humans except they should worship Me
(Alone).” (51:56)
“And We have already written in the book [of Psalms] that the land [of
Paradise] is inherited by My righteous servants.”
9. Obedient:
The fear of Allah and his ability of Omni-science that he knows everything
and that he will hold to account all mankind for all their actions coupled
with the belief that the fate of man rests in God’s hand and in His mercy A
man is more likely to be obedient and subservient to divine ill.
Islam is the only Deen which connects the traditional ethical monotheism
to a socio-political and economic ideology. Since this ideology delineates
from a single infallible source of One God believers are able to establish an
objective reality based on universal humanism and equity.
“We did send our apostles with manifest signs; and We did send down
among you the Book and the balance, that men might stand by justice.”
(57:25)
The goal of all prophetic missions and scriptures was to establish ultimate
justice – God’s justice.
