IV. LEARNING PHASES AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES
I. Introduction (Time Frame: Day 1)

The use of Information Communications Technology (ICT) has increased. This has helped people do their
tasks in a more convenient, easier, faster, and more efficient way. However, behind all these are risks. Misuse of
the internet, participating in dangerous and illegal online activities, among others may put your safety at stake.
Therefore, safe and responsible use of the internet and its applications is a must.

In this lesson, you are expected to post and share materials on wikis and other web applications in a safe
and responsible manner and posts and shares materials on blogs in a safe and responsible manner.

D. Development (Time Frame: Day 2)

Different Types of Web Applications


Wikis, blogs, and audio-video conferencing are some of the most common applications available via
Internet. While computers are used to create, store and manage critical information, it is also important not only
to make the information easily accessible and available when you need it, but also learn to protect and secure
them from damage, loss data, and misuse.
Wikis, blogs and video conferencing are web applications that enable businessmen, students, educators,
and individuals to communicate with one another all throughout the world.

1. Wiki- is a collaborative web tool that allows users to create and share information on website using any web
browser. Wiki is designed to be an online forum, where you can post information and allow you to edit or add it.
Some wikis are available to public. Every user has access to any content anytime and even anywhere in the
world.

The following are the steps on how to edit wiki content in a safe way:
a. Connect to the Internet using a web browser.
b. Go to a wiki page.
c. Edit the content of the page.
d. Click the Save button to send the modified text back to the wiki server. The document gathers the
corresponding text file, changing the text into HTML.
e. Insert the information into a template, then the result is sent to your browser.

2. Blogs- also known as weblog, is a personal online journal that contains short entries written and updated by
an individual called a blogger. Many people are using blogs nowadays to share their thoughts, creativity and
experiences.
The following are the steps on how to create a Blog post in a safe way:
1. Go to blogging platform website.
2. If you are not yet registered, create an account. Fill out all the necessary information such as username,
password e-mail address, name, among others.
3. Choose a domain name (i.e. studentblogger.wordpress.com)
4. Verify your e-mail address.
5. Once registered, you may now log in to your account.
IV. LEARNING PHASES AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES
6. Customize the name of your blog.
7. Write a post. Keep it concise yet interesting.
8. Add a title to your post.
9. Check your grammar, spelling, and punctuation used.
10. You may add photo, video, music, among others.
11. Publish your work.
E. Engagement (Time Frame: Day 3)
Learning Task 1: Arrange the following steps on how to edit wiki content in a safe way. Number the steps from 1-
5. Write the numbers on the lines before each step.

Answer the following questions. Write your answer in a sheet of paper.


1. What is the importance of using Wikis?
2. Why do we need to use or edit the content of Wikis?
3. How will you use wikis in a responsible manner?
4. What is the importance of using a blog?
5. In your idea, why is blogging trending nowadays to the students? Explain.
6. How will you ensure that blogging is safe?

V. ASSESSMENT (Time Frame: Day 5)
